Pixar Fest has brought tons of exciting eats and experiences to Disneyland Resort this summer.
One of these new offerings was Club Pixar, an entertainment offering that was scheduled to run through August 4th. However, the show has closed two months early.
According to The Orange County Register, Club Pixar’s show on June 2nd was their final show, much to the surprise of all dancers present, who had not been told previously. The show took place in the Hollywood Land backlot at Disney California Adventure, where previous popular dance parties such as the Mad T Party and ElecTRONica have taken place in the past.
Club Pixar was described by Disney as being a dance party with “DJ music, live shows and Pixar-themed games, food and drinks,” leading fans to hope it would be more geared towards adults, such as previous shows were.
However, the show ended up being more geared towards kids as a “watch-and-learn” choreography show, or as “watch-and-enjoy” dances to Inside Out and Wall-E music. Many fans feel it was similar to the Disney Junior Dance Party found in Disneyland or the Disney Junior Play and Dance! in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
We thought it was a fun dance party, but could see why many guests feel it was more geared towards kids. While adults were more than welcome to join in on the dancing, it was more kiddos having the time of their lives dancing their hearts out.
Guest feedback and operational considerations were the reasons behind the early closure. While disc jockeys and dancers will no longer be present in Club Pixar, guests will still be able to find Pixar-themed food and drinks, games, movies, and photo opportunities from 4:30-8:30PM in the Hollywood Backlot space.

And once again all those performers are out of work.. shame on Disney

Heaven forbid adult Disney goers that children were having the time of their lives at the dance party. Your selfish complaining now took away a fun thing for kids to do.

I don’t know when we’ll get out to Disneyland California, it’s pretty tough to resist going to WDW every chance we get, but I’d love to get there someday. So I can’t say what I thought of this. BUT. I am glad that Disney is getting the message that someone has to BRING the kids to the parks, and those people deserve to be entertained more than just vicariously. Walt imagined the parks as places that the whole family could genuinely have fun, not just people under the age of 5 while everyone else just exhausts themselves with admiration. Disney has gone way too far in a lot of ways for a long time catering to only the youngest audiences, and some of the new stuff for the youngest people has wide appeal (looking at you, Bluey!), but too much of it does not. Disney does too much to encourage the stroller set as it is. The vast majority of stroller users may be careful and considerate and follow the rules, but the ones who don’t are ruining the reputation for the rest.

Ouch! That’s a pretty raw deal :(.

I seriously wish that Disney would at least consider something for adults only. A few years ago they had Club Villain, which was an amazing dinner and show. However, instead of it being a party for adults there were tons of kids just running around the dance floor. Of course then no adults felt like dancing because of this. I understand that Disney is for kids, but it would be nice if there was something for adults, just like Adventures by Disney that offers adult only experiences. What surprised me was that since there was no child pricing for the event that there were so many kids there.

They have the same thing in Disneyland back in the theatre area. It seems also geared towards children, but at least it has some character meet ‘n’ greet opportunities.
Bring back ElecTRONica and Mad T Party says
It was a mostly empty area with bored looking adults sitting on benches drinking while a handful of kids looked confused trying to follow the onstage choreography.
As mentioned, there are other better character dance parties including Disney Jr and Tomorrowland Terrace. This was lame and unnecessary. And I say that as a big fan of Hollywood Backlot dance parties.
This one sucked.
But I’m sorry for the dancers who now have to scramble for work. But that’s what happens when people unionize. Jobs get cut.
