OK, we’ll admit it. We LOVE a nighttime theme park show. Fireworks? Obsessed. Drone show? In love. Nighttime parades? BRING THEM BACK, PLEASE! No matter how you prefer to celebrate, there’s probably a nighttime event waiting for you in Orlando. In fact, Universal Orlando Resort recently announced a NEW nighttime spectacular you NEED to see. Let’s take a look!
Attention, all movie fans! We got the chance to see Universal’s NEW nighttime show. This one features some iconic music, beloved characters, and EPIC special effects. Wanna see? Of course, you do! Let’s go!
Universal Orlando is debuting a NEW show called CineSational: A Symphonic Spectacular. It’s described as a new nighttime lagoon show, complete with nods to Universal Orlando’s past, present, and future attractions. Take a look at the concept art below!
The new show officially debuts on June 14th at Universal Studios Florida, but we got a special look ahead of its big debut.
During the show, listen for music from films like Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts, Jurassic World, Jaws, Shrek, Ghostbusters, Trolls, Back to the Future, Transformers, How to Train Your Dragon, E.T., Fast and Furious, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and Minions.
Oh, and we even caught some nods to classics like the Universal Monsters, The Mummy, and King Kong. The show features an original composition featuring newly arranged scores!
Universal also shared that the show will use some impressive technologies and special effects to bring the show to life, including 228 fountains that reach heights up to 131 feet, 4K projection mapping, and over 600 drones.
We will note that the drones were 2D images except for an image of Toothless from How To Train Your Dragon. But they’re not the sole focus of the show — it has SO much going on with a lot of super impressive visuals.
One part of the show we loved is that there is a Minions scene where the show pretends to break and then the Minions get called in to fix it — you can see Minions in the windows of the buildings running around and catching stuff. It was very cool. There was also this cool E.T. moment.

Laurel Lane says
Let’s see. Disney spent the last five years and billions of dollars creating a copy-cat rollercoaster, a glorified splash pad, an empty building to hold events and a concrete park to relax in during the heat of the day. Universal is building an entire new theme park… I definitely would say Universal is beating Disney at this point in time. And, believe me, there was a time I never would have even thought that could happen. It’s time for the entire Board and Iger to go.
