We’ve got TONS of experience with the restaurants around Disney World. But even though we know our way around Disney dining like the back of our hand, there’s a spot in EPCOT that leaves even us with some serious questions.
Between the many restaurants of the World Showcase, newer dining options, and festival food booths available throughout much of the year, there’s no shortage of great food in EPCOT. But even so, we can’t help but wonder about the fate of one mysterious EPCOT restaurant that has been in limbo for years!
Located in the back of the Morocco Pavilion of EPCOT’s World Showcase, Restaurant Marrakesh is a table service restaurant featuring a menu of authentic Moroccan food.
On top of the food, the restaurant was also known for its elaborate decor and live entertainment, provided by belly dancers and live musicians.
Despite the restaurant’s unique decor, entertainment, and menu options, it’s been years since we’ve eaten there — but not by choice! Restaurant Marrakesh has remained closed for years, as it never reopened following the 2020 park closures.
While the restaurant itself has been closed since 2020, the space has been used for several different purposes since then. In recent years, the Restaurant Marrakesh dining room has served as indoor seating for EPCOT festivals and an exclusive lounge for Annual Passholders.
The Annual Passholder-exclusive lounge that is currently set up inside Restaurant Marrakesh will be open through June 18th. With this perk set to end in just a few days, it has us wondering — what’s next for Restaurant Marrakesh?
The 2024 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival is scheduled to begin on August 29th, so it’s possible that it could be used as a lounge and seating area for the festival again.
But since Disney hasn’t made any official announcements regarding the restaurant’s future, we’re left wondering, will it continue to serve as a flexible space for various purposes? Will the space be transformed into something completely new? Will Restaurant Marrakesh itself ever reopen?
For now, it seems like Disney is leaving us with more questions than answers on this one! We loved the unique menu and entertainment at Restaurant Marrakesh, so we’ll continue to keep a close eye out for any hints at what the restaurant’s future might be. Of course, if we spot any updates you’ll be the first to know, so stay tuned to DFB to keep in the loop!

Disney should resolve their differences with the Kingdom of Morocco and re open the restaurant.

Personally, I don’t really like this restaurant. I liked it when Spice Road Table had restaurant food (it was my favorite) but now is converted into a lounge. 🤦🏻♀️
If they reopen this restaurant, hopefully it will have better food.

How about doing something other than pop ups for festivals in the old Odyssey restaurant in EPCOT?
