Okay, let’s face it — quick service options in Magic Kingdom, especially for lunch, are, well, pretty limited.
Of course, maybe you’ll get lucky and the Spring Roll Cart will be open. Or you can grab that Sweet and Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich at Sleepy Hollow. Sure, there are plenty of burger and fries options, too, but that’s just so PLAIN. However, one Magic Kingdom quick service spot just added a NEW lunch option to its menu AND a tasty sweet treat, and both are solid NEW options you might want to try soon.
Okay, so we know most of you go to Gaston’s Tavern for one thing and one thing only: that AMAZING Cinnamon Roll, but that’s not the only thing you should be paying attention to on the menu. We recently noticed a few new things added to the menu there, including a savory option that makes for a great lunch, a Ham and Gruyere Tart for $9.49 made with crispy croissant dough topped with ham and gruyere served with chips. We have one word for this tart: “spectacular.”
No, really. The crust is soft, buttery, and flaky. The ham is savory and salty and adds the perfect chew. The melted gruyère on top adds a creamy and lovely cheesiness that’s almost like fondue. Then there are the green onions that add a touch of tanginess. We have ZERO complaints about this and we will be ordering this for lunch often. It’s not super heavy either (which is especially nice in the summer), but still filling enough to be a meal.
We also tried the Crème Brûlée Croissant. Yes, there’s another over-the-top croissant in Disney World. For $5.29, you get a crispy croissant dough filled with vanilla bean custard. First, get napkins because this baby is messy to eat. With that being said, the croissant dough isn’t quite as fluffy, but it’s still soft. The caramelization on top is sweet and sticky with a hint of char flavor. It adds a nice texture to the croissant as a whole.
Inside, is a lot of yummy vanilla bean custard with a light vanilla flavor. If you love croissants or even filled donuts, this could be just the sweet treat you’re looking for.
Apparently, no one makes croissant-based foods like Gaston (yes, we had to go there). If you find yourself looking for lunch and/or a snack in Magic Kingdom, head on over to Gaston’s Tavern and try out these new menu items!

We had heard so much about the cinnamon rolls at Gaston’s that it was going to be a must do stop on our last trip to WDW. Sadly, the roll was extremely dry/stale with very little icing on top! So disappointed
