We’ve been so excited about getting the opportunity to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Disney World, which officially opens to the public on June 28th.
Although we finally got a chance to ride the new attraction, it seems like the ride is closed a LOT, and many of those who managed to get early previews are getting turned away when it closes. We’ve seen the ride evacuated and at one point a virtual queue was canceled (although we don’t know if it was due to downtime or something else). We recently just noticed another problem, though, and we’re kinda worried about Tiana.
Now, when this ride was known as Splash Mountain, we got pretty used to seeing the animatronics freeze and just not work, but we did not expect to see this happen with brand-new animatronics. But here we are, and, y’all, the Tiana animatronic in the finale scene is just not having it. The Tiana animatronic stopped working and made for what felt like a really awkward moment in the ride.

Like, same…we get like that at parties, too (we have to joke, or we might end up crying). But, seriously, Tiana, are you okay? Do you need a hug? At least Naveen is all smiles…
This is on top of all the other issues we’ve seen with the ride. As we previously mentioned, we’ve seen the ride closed often and have seen it evacuated several times, too. Of course, this is kind of the point of having early previews — they’re more for Imagineers than those people who get to ride it early. Early previews are a sort of stress test to see what kind of things will go wrong when the ride continuously has people riding it all day.
So, is the ride okay? Well, it doesn’t SEEM to be okay right now, but we’re hoping that Disney will be taking a look at all these issues and figuring them out — again, that’s what early previews can help with. We’re hoping that the ride will be working more consistently before its big opening date in a few weeks, but if you do have plans to ride it after its official opening date, we’d say you might want to plan for it to have some downtime, just so you’re prepared.
We’ll be keeping an eye out for any other issues the ride might have and keep you updated, so stay tuned to DFB for more.

This is the first time I’ve been seriously worried about an attraction at Disney. It seems like they need to go back to the drawing board on the implementation of this technology rather than pushing forward at all costs to stick to an opening timeline. Splash was there for over 30 years, if they expect a similar longevity from TBA they can’t settle for a system that requires multiple extended closings seemingly everyday.

The ride should never have been changed to begin with! Shallow people that found it offensive.
