Y’all. It has been a WEEK in Disney World.
In EPCOT, people are absolutely roasting the new CommuniCore Hall, while something iconic has gone missing. In Hollywood Studios, Disney announced price increases for its Fantasmic! Dining Packages. In Magic Kingdom, Tiana literally shut down at her own Mardi Gras party on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. The worst thing there, though, is that Columbia Harbour House took hushpuppies off the menu (no, we are not okay). However, we still went to Columbia Harbour House to see if one of its new meals could make us feel a little better.
So, let’s dig into the Plant-based Crispy Mushroom Roll. It’s made with cornmeal-fried mushrooms, plant-based spicy tartar sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, and a pickle served with French fries for $13.49. Okay, we’re just going to have to say that this sandwich knocked it out of the park and might be our new favorite lunch in Disney World (even though we still would’ve preferred hushpuppies over fries, and yes, we’re still a little bitter about that).
The fried mushrooms have a similar texture to fried oysters, although we have to warn you that some of the fried mushrooms were a little on the hard side, so be warned if you have sensitive teeth. However, we won’t hold that against it. The fresh tomatoes pair so well with the mushrooms, as well as the crisp shredded lettuce. That sauce, too, just takes it up a notch. Honestly, we’re getting some Louisiana-style Po’ Boy vibes here.
The bread is AH-mazing, although it is a sturdier roll, which allows it to hold a lot of fillings and absorb the moisture inside. It’s good bread, y’all. Disney World has been turning up its plant-based game lately, and this is another great option you can add to your list. However, even if you’re not on a plant-based diet, we think you just might appreciate this tasty roll.
We can’t say we 100% forgive Columbia Harbour House for getting rid of their hushpuppies, but this certainly softens the blow a bit. The plant-based Crispy Mushroom Roll is a good addition to the menu, and we’ll probably still tell folks that Columbia Harbour House is one of the most underrated quick-service dining spots in Magic Kingdom.
We’ll be trying out even more new food in Disney World soon, so stay tuned to DFB for more.

It’s fine to add more plant-based items that are not only healthy but also tasty and distinctive, good on Walt Disney World. However, I go to Columbia Harbour House, because, among other things, you can get hush puppies which I will get with seafood whenever and wherever I can get them. In the grand scheme of things, will it change my life? No. But it will change my dining experience and that is a hard pass for me. I will be sure to leave feedback with whomever are the powers that be with food services at the park requesting their return. Hopefully there are other hush puppy fans out there willing to request it as well.
