There has been a change on Main Street, U.S.A., recently, but it may not be very obvious to some.
Disney World has seen so many changes over the last few years! From additions like Tron Lightcycle / Run and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom to the completion of the EPCOT Transformation, Disney World has been in a state of change. And this is good. Walt once said that Disneyland will never be completed, and the same goes for Disney World! Well, recently, there was a new change on Main Street, but this time, it benefitted Cast Members!
We love Cast Members, and they make magic for us each and every day! Recently, Cast Members who work on Main Street got new costumes! If you did not know, Cast Members around Disney World are assigned certain costumes depending on their role. Cast Members check out their costumes at various costuming locations.Â
Costume updates have been a recent trend around the resorts. PhotoPass Cast Members at both Disney World and Disneyland got new costumes, and Cast Members at EPCOT also recently got new costumes!
Cast Member costumes are part of the show and reflect where the Cast Member is working. Since Main Street reflects the turn of the century, so do the Cast Members’ costumes. Due to this, these costumes were thick, but now Disney has redesigned them with lightweight fabric, making them more breathable! Plus, these new costumes were even made of recycled materials!
It seems like these new costumes came at the perfect time, as it is very hot in Disney World right now!
One costume really caught our eye! Cast Members who work merchandise on Main Street have the option to wear a costume that includes a skirt. This skirt just happens to have flowers on it!
We were intrigued by these flowers and a Cast Member actually shared the meaning behind each flower! There are three flowers featured on the skirt. First you have the an Orange Blossom for the Florida State Flower since Disney World is located in Florida. Next, there is a White Hawthorn Blossom, which is the state flower of Missouri. Walt grew up in Marceline, Missouri. You can still visit Marceline’s Main Street which gave Walt the idea for his very own Main Street that we know and love today! The third flower is the California state flower, a California Poppy, to represent Disneyland in California.
Cast Members also wear a cameo and carved into it is a Lily for Walt’s wife, Lillian!
We love how each flower has a meaning, which makes these new costumes even cooler! The next time you visit Magic Kingdom, keep an eye out for Cast Members sporting these new costumes!

I see the ones pictured to be unflattering. I can’t recall how the old style looked but I would prefer to wear a more traditional style even if it were heavier. This is my personal preference.
