If you’ve ever tried to book a flight to Disney World, you probably know that your options change all the time. One day, a Southwest Airlines flight to Orlando Airport may be pretty inexpensive; the next day, that same flight may cost an extra $100. It’s hard to keep up!
But that’s why we’re here to help! We keep track of the new flight routes to Disney World and monitor the airlines that halt their service to MCO. That way, you know exactly what your options are before you book your flight. While we’re on the subject, we have some important news to share about a popular budget airline. Let’s take a look.
Have you ever flown with Avelo Airlines? This low-cost airline offers some great deals on nonstop flights to 49 destinations, but we have an update on one popular route.
Avelo Airlines confirmed that they will NOT offer service from Dubuque Regional Airport to Orlando International Airport in 2024. The airport, located in Dubuque County, Iowa, will not be included in Avelo’s 2024 flight schedule, per local ABC News affiliate KCRG.
In January, Avelo Airlines announced that it would pause the Dubuque to Orlando route, with plans to resume operations in November 2024. But now, it looks like that route will not resume this year. Despite Dubuque Regional Airport Manager Todd Dalsing’s statement that “The Orlando flights Avelo offered were very popular, running very strong load factors during core travel periods,” it seems like travelers will need to use another airline to get to Orlando.
If you’re planning a trip to Disney World, we have a few tips about traveling through the Orlando Airport. First, make sure to check those security wait times before arriving at the airport. You can visit the Orlando Airport website to see the current estimated wait times for each terminal.
Additionally, we suggest taking a look at MCO Reserve. It’s a FREE system that can help you avoid long lines at security. We’ve tried and tested the service and can confirm it makes a BIG difference.
The lines at the Orlando Airport can get VERY long depending on the time of your flight, so do yourself a favor and research MCO Reserve before your trip to see if it’s worth trying!

We’ll be sure to keep our eyes out for additional airport updates. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.

We flew them a few times. Their biggest problem is that their fleet is small and older. So when there is a delay or another issue they don’t have enough planes to cover. That means more waiting time for consumers. This causes many delays when there is an issue. And many issues flying out of Orlando.
