Some people call Disney’s Animal Kingdom a “half-day park,” but we tend to think those people are wrong.
There is SO much to see and do at Animal Kingdom, and while it may not have as many rides as other Disney World parks, you’ll still find no shortage of entertainment, animals, shopping, and of course — snacks. We spotted a new menu item at one quick-service spot in Animal Kingdom, so you know we had to grab it and bring you our review!
We headed on over to Pizzafari at Animal Kingdom to try the new Chicken Parmesan with Gnocchi Primavera for $13.29. This dish consists of breaded chicken parmesan breast layered on baked potato gnocchi in primavera tomato sauce topped with melted provolone and mozzarella. Sounds pretty darn delicious.
Okay, let’s just start off by saying this dish definitely tastes better than it looks. The gnocchi tastes like the kind you can buy in the packages at the grocery store, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Ours actually had a fairly good texture, the dumplings were slightly chewy yet still soft. The garlic toast is essentially the Texas toast you can buy in the grocery store, too. It didn’t taste very fresh and was definitely not a shining moment of this dish.
The chicken was actually pretty juicy and we loved all the melted cheese on top! There was actually a decent amount of chicken in this dish, and while nothing special it isn’t bad for quick-service chicken parmesan. The breading-to-chicken ratio was good, but the breading made it taste kind of like chicken tenders. The chicken is a good thickness for chicken parmesan. Unfortunately, the tomato sauce was pretty one note, it just tasted like tomato and is a bit on the sweet side for us.
There were few veggies in ours, but the piece of squash we did have was tender but pretty flavorless. Overall, it wasn’t the greatest thing we have ever eaten, but for quick service, it wasn’t bad. It is a more unique dish than chicken tenders or a hamburger, and we would say it’s definitely kid-friendly. There’s no spice at all, just lots of tomato and cheese flavor with a kind of chicken tender on top.
We’re always on the hunt for the best new eats around Disney World… but this one probably isn’t it. In the meantime, we’ll be keeping an eye on the latest news you need to know, so stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more!

Thanks for all the new food news! At least it is something that is a little different, and probably something that’s fast but filling. Messy looking food is often also tasty food in my book.

I actually just had this! Didn’t know it was a new dish. Was pretty decent and filling. Great deal for the price.
