Halloween time in Disney World is right around the corner!
We have seen Halloween decorations go up as early as July 31st, and we are expecting a similar schedule this year! We know it may seem early for Halloween, but Magic Kingdom will soon transform into Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party on select nights in August, September, and October. We just got some exciting news about two popular attractions that will be open during the party!
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is an after-hours event that takes place in Magic Kingdom during the spooky season. This event is separately ticketed, meaning you need to purchase party tickets (not just Magic Kingdom tickets). These tickets grant you admission to Magic Kingdom at 4PM (before the party starts). The party officially runs from 7PM to midnight.
During the party, there are so many special offerings, and this year, there will be a brand-new offering!
If you have trouble obtaining a Virtual Queue for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and/or TRON Lightcycle / Run during normal park operating hours, you may want to consider purchasing a ticket to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.
This year, BOTH Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (Magic Kingdom’s newest attraction) and TRON Lightcycle / Run will use a stand-by line during the party!
This means you can get in line for these attractions as many times as you would like throughout the night! No need to join the virtual queue or buy a Lightning Lane.
In previous years, TRON Lightcycle / Run was open for the party, but those who wanted to ride would need to join a Virtual Queue at 6PM that was only open to partygoers.
Disney has had TRON Lightcycle / Run operate using a stand-by line for other After Hours events, but this will be a first for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!
We think this is a great perk and another reason why Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party can be a good value!
Along with the stand-by lines at these two attractions, you can expect lower wait times around the park as attendance for the party is limited.
During the party, you can experience exclusive Halloween entertainment. Twice a night, Mickey’s Boo To You Parade makes its way through Frontierland to Main Street. We already have the iconic theme song in our heads, and we are just thinking about it!
Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular lights up the skies around Cinderella Castle, and Jack Skellington makes a special appearance!
The best part? TRICK OR TREATING! That is right! You can trick or treat throughout Magic Kingdom on designated treat trails. Get ready to bring a lot of candy home with you, as Cast Members can be pretty generous with their scoops!
We already loved Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Now, with the addition of stand-by lines for Tron Lightcycle / Run and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, we are even more excited to attend the party this year!

That is wonderful! Any idea of the wait times or best time to go to standby line for these popular attractions? If you get to a line right at 7, is there a wait from folks who were already in the parks? Thanks so much for all your great information!!

Thank you DFB for the update. This is good news. We are going on September 10th. I am so happy these rides are available as I am terrible on getting the virtual tickets. 😉
Love DFB keep up the great job.

Hi Holly! Guests are usually ushered out of the parks at 6pm if they do not have a party ticket, but there may still be some people in line if the ride has a long wait. That being said, I’d probably wait until later to join the standby line.
