We are on a mission, y’all.
We are sick and TIRED of seeing our favorite Disney World snacks getting dropped from menus. Now, fans raised a pretty BIG fuss when Columbia Harbour House in Magic Kingdom stopped offering hushpuppies. And you know what? They came back! We’re still working on convincing Disney World to bring back the original Waffle Sandwiches at Sleepy Hollow, though. Well, there’s one snack we mourned the loss of last year, and it has finally come back. Well, it’s sort of back.
During Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration, we fell in LOVE with the Wendell’s Bear Claw treat, named after Country Bear Wendell, that you could get at Westward Ho in Magic Kingdom. The snack was a traditional bear claw pastry dipped in and filled with chocolate and sprinkled with hazelnuts. Simple, but DELICIOUS. Here’s what it looked like:
However, this treat finally went away for good in 2023 (after coming on and off the menu for months). We actually had the opportunity to buy the VERY LAST Wendell’s Bear Claw and even had Wendell himself wish the treat goodbye.
Well, we’ve got some good news — well, KIND of good news. When we were attending Disney’s media event to check out the new Country Bear Musical Jamboree show, we were given something called Wendell’s Bear Claw. Could our beloved treat have returned? Well, yes, and no… First, you can tell by looking at it that it’s different.
However, the truth was in the tasting. This was VERY plain and lacked the nuance of flavors that the previous version had (you think we’d forget, Disney?). The inside was nice and flaky, while the outside was lightly coated with powdered sugar and slivered almonds that gave it a little more texture. But it just didn’t taste much like ANYTHING. So it might share a name with a DFB-favorite treat, but it IS NOT THE SAME.
We’re not sure if this version of Wendell’s Bear Claw will actually be offered anywhere to celebrate the reopening of Country Bear Jamboree, but if it is, we’ll warn you that it’s not as good as its predecessor.
Stay tuned to DFB for more.

Thar bear claw was one of the most overpriced and underwhelming disney treat I’ve ever had.
