We clock THOUSANDS of steps in Disney World a day, and we know that people visiting for vacation do as well!
But if those 15,000 steps aren’t enough for you, you can pay to get even MORE! Yep, one of Disney World’s most popular offerings is the runDisney races that happen throughout the year, where people can register to run through the Disney parks before they open for the day, competing in 5K, 10K, half marathon, and marathon races. And if you’re interested in doing a race, we’ve got some news for you!
Disney releases the dates for runDisney races well in advance, but then a few months before each race weekend, we get the themes for the races announced! One of the most popular races of the year is the Disney Princess Half Marathon weekend each February, and now we know what themes that race weekend will bring in 2025.
The next Princess Half Marathon Weekend will take place February 20th-24th, 2025. There will be three races throughout the weekend — a Mulan-themed 5K, a Jasmine-themed 10K, and an Aurora-themed half marathon. If you’re interested in taking on all three races, you can try the Fairytale Challenge, which is Snow White-themed this year.
To round out the weekend, you can also sign up for the Disney Princess Yoga on Monday, February 24th. It takes place at 5AM at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and costs $122 to attend.
Registration for all these events opens on July 30th at 10AM ET. These races tend to fill up quickly, so you’ll want to register ASAP for whichever one you’d like to attend. They’re a truly unique experience since you get to see the parks before they open for the day, and you can often meet rare Disney characters along the race route. Many people like to dress up for the races in Disney-inspired costumes as well.
And if you’re not planning on racing, but you ARE planning on going to Disney World for race weekend, we’ll issue a warning! Race weekends are typically a bit more crowded in the parks, especially those that are particularly popular like the Princess Half Marathon Weekend. Expect heavy crowds during the day, especially in EPCOT (which seems to get the most attention on race weekends). If you’re traveling that weekend, you might want to go ahead and book your accommodations now!
