Disney World has changed A LOT over the last few years!
We have gotten to experience so many new attractions, like Tron Lightcycle / Run and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom. EPCOT’s multi-year transformation was just completed and brought us rides like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. There is still so much in store as Test Track is currently being re-imagined with inspiration from its predecessor, World of Motion. Magic Kingdom is about to have the Country Bear Jamboree open up once again with a new show! While we have gotten so many new attractions, there is one trend that is really defining 2024 at Disney World.
We have seen a lot of things that make Disney World feel like Disney World come and go. We said goodbye to FastPass+ and hello to Genie+. When Disney World re-opened after the pandemic, we lost the Disney Dining Plan and even park hopping! It was uncertain if we would ever see these offerings again.
It may not always seem like Disney is listening, but trust us, the Mouse hears all, and it has really shown in 2024. Disney has been reinstating many of our favorite things, and that is all thanks to YOU! Fan feedback has been critical in Disney deciding what offerings should make their return.
This year alone, so many offerings have come back! Cast Member pin trading has made its return! Cast Members can now trade pins that they have on their lanyard or pin pouch with guests!
This is a great way for Cast Members to get to interact with people and can create a magical moment!
The Disney Dining Plan FINALLY made its return this year!
This can make it so much easier for those vacationing at Disney World to pay for their snacks and meals upfront and not have to worry about it when their vacation rolls around.
Everything That is Different about the Disney Dining Plan in 2024
Park hopping is finally back, too! We know it has been confusing following along with Park Pass Reservations and rules on when you can park hop. While Park Pass Reservations are still around for some people, park hopping is BACK!
Gone are the days of waiting until 2PM to park hop! Having all-day park hopping back makes it so much easier for you to enjoy your vacation and experience more without having to wait to park hop!
One of the biggest changes is Genie+’s transition into Lightning Lane Multi and Single Pass. Many people had many complaints and challenges with Genie+, and just as we were finally figuring it out, Disney announced a new system!
Lightning Lane Multi Pass reminds us of our old pal, FastPass+. Just like FastPass+, you will now be able to book experiences BEFORE you visit the park. Attractions are also divided into tiers, allowing you to hold three Lightning Lane selections at once.
Unfortunately, unlike FastPass+, Lightning Lane Multi and Single Pass are not free and are still paid for skip-the-line services like Genie+.
Lightning Lane Multi and Single Pass officially start operating on July 24th. We are eager to see how the new system compares to Genie+ and are keeping our fingers crossed that it works even better!
We are so happy that Disney is taking fan feedback into account, and we think this is a great trend this year! As always, stay tuned to DFB for more Disney news!

Cathryn Ann Clement says
I’d like to see Disney World return to pride in having full-time, long-term cast members instead of going more and more to part-time employment with fewer benefits as a way to cut costs. Too much part-time means less investment on the part of the employee which leads to less customer service and therefore customer satisfaction.
