Over the years, we’ve gathered plenty of tips to help avoid long lines in Disney World.
From learning how to properly use Lightning Lanes to recommending people rope drop or stay late in the parks, we’ve got several methods for avoiding those multi-hour waits. For some attractions, you can skip a hefty wait by using the single rider line…and now there’s a new one in Disney World!
Right now, Rise of the Resistance in Disney’s Hollywood Studios is testing out a single rider queue! The Cast Member told us this was just a trial period. They’ll be testing it for the next few weeks and getting feedback to see how it works and if it’s something that could be continued in the future.
So if you’re heading to Disney World soon, you might want to keep your eyes peeled for this sign if the wait is long. It might save you some time if it works properly! Although, we’ve also seen single rider lines with even longer waits than their standby counterparts in the past. That’s part of why Disney has to do a testing phase.
However, when we spoke with another Cast Member, we got some potentially bad news about this single rider line. If you choose to wait in that queue, you’ll skip past ALL the pre-show elements of Rise of the Resistance. This means you skip the room with the Rey projection, and the transport vehicle. You go through a portion of the Stormtrooper room, but aren’t able to really stop and take photos.
Now, if you’ve done the ride plenty of times, this might be fine. But if this is your first time riding Rise of the Resistance, this probably isn’t the way to go. You get a lot of background story and immersion from those pre-show elements, and if you use the single rider queue, you’ll be missing out on all of it. Ultimately, it depends on what you want from your ride experience.
We’ve seen Disney World test single rider queues at other attractions in the past as well. There was a period of time when they did a trial of a single rider queue at Soarin’ in EPCOT. It was tested for a while in 2022, then came back briefly in 2023. Unfortunately, it didn’t stick around permanently.
Currently, the only rides that have official single rider queues are Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, and Expedition Everest. Test Track used to offer a single rider option before it closed to get a revamp. So if the Rise of the Resistance queue works out, then most of the single rider offerings will be in Hollywood Studios.
We’ll keep an eye on this new queue option and see if it sticks around! Stay tuned to DFB for all the news and updates!

I think I’d rather purchase a Lightning Lane, or even wait in the standby line, than miss all of the pre-shows
