Buckle up! We’re talking about the biggest things happening at Disney World in August…and there’s a lot going on!
2024 has been a busy year for the parks with the grand opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, the reimagining of Country Bear Jamboree, and some major changes to Genie+. But August is bringing its own fair share of events and that’s what we’re here to chat about now. So what are you waiting for? Let’s go!
If you’re heading to Disney World soon, be sure to check out our planning worksheets. You can click the image below to get our list and make sure you don’t forget a thing!
Take a peek at what you can look forward to in August at Disney World!
Parade Confusion
To kick off the month of August, we’ve got some major parade confusion. Why? Because the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade AND the Festival of Fantasy Parade are not showing any times. Weird, right?
Showtimes are listed through August 3rd…but starting on August 4th, it notes “No times available.” We thought this may have been a glitch (and there’s still a chance it is one) but it has been like this for days now.
Festival of Fantasy is a parade themed to Fantasyland characters and stories. In the show, you’ll find popular characters like Winnie the Pooh, Ariel, Peter Pan, and Belle.
The Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade (AKA a shorter parade) features a variety of characters from different cultures! You could spot The Three Caballeros, Mirabel and Bruno from Encanto, Pocahontas, Miguel from Coco, and more.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 🎃
Calling all witches and wizards! August also marks the beginning of spooky season which means it’s time for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party to begin! The event kicks off on August 9th, 2024, and happens on certain nights through October 31st, 2024 at Magic Kingdom.
Tickets are on sale now with many dates still available. On the fence about buying a ticket? At the event, you’ll have access to exclusive access to seasonal entertainment, specialty eats, trick-or-treating, rare characters, and low wait times at most attractions (including Tiana’s Bayou Adventure). Plus, you’ll be able to enter Magic Kingdom at 4PM to get a head start on experiencing the park!
There are still plenty of dates with tickets available for this year’s event, so see if it makes sense for you and your group and grab them while you can!

Peter Pan’s Flight Reopens
Something every Disney World parkgoer has to deal with is ride closures. Whether they are scheduled or unexpected, it is bound to happen…and there are a couple of updates for August you should know about. This includes the reopening of Peter Pan’s Flight in Magic Kingdom!
The iconic Magic Kingdom dark ride closed on July 8th for refurbishment, however, that closure is set to end on August 21st, 2024 according to the calendar. Sometimes these dates get shifted around if Disney needs more or less time to complete the project, but for now, we’re marking our calendars with the 21st!

Jungle Cruise Closure
You know the saying — as one door closes, another opens. And that’s true for refurbishments in Magic Kingdom because Jungle Cruise will temporarily close starting on August 26th, 2024. So if you were hoping to ride the most hilarious ride in the park, be sure to do so before then!
Luckily this closure shouldn’t be too long. Disney confirmed that the ride “is scheduled to reopen for Guests before the winter holidays begin at Walt Disney World.” That’s when the boat ride becomes the Jingle Cruise and is decked out in holiday decor. The jokes get a holiday twist too, of course!
There’s currently no reopening date for the attraction, but we’ll let you know as soon as Disney announces one. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party starts on November 8th, so we’re expecting to see it reopen by then.

EPCOT Food & Wine Festival Kicks Off
And last but not least, the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival kicks off in August! The 2024 fest runs from August 29th to November 23rd and although it’s shorter than it’s been the past few years, there’s a LOT to be excited about.
First of all, we know that two brand new booths are coming to the festival! Additionally, the Eat to the Beat Concert Series lineup has been announced including both new and returning artists. Learn all about the dining packages that go along with the series here.
This is also the first festival in EPCOT since CommuniCore Hall and Plaza opened in June. It was originally said to be a festival space so we’re interested to see how it will be used. Could seminars finally return? We’ll just have to wait and see!
We’re also trying to be patient when it comes to the full menu announcements…but it’s hard! You know the Food & Wine Festival is our thing, so keep following for the latest updates, tips, and tricks.

They better not get rid of Festival of Fantasy parade 😭. That’s one of my favorite things to see at Disney world. It’s such a classic. I really don’t want them to get rid of it 😭. Please keep the parade the way it is 🙏🏼

Does anyone know if there’s been any hints about when Cake Bake will open? I was hoping it might coincide with Food & Wine.
