If you’re honest, you’ll agree that most of us go to Disney World for the food and drink!
It could be a specific entree at your favorite restaurant like the noodles at ‘Ohana, or a unique drink like the Avocado Margarita from La Cava del Tequila, or some classic Corn Dog Nuggets from Casey’s Corner. It doesn’t even matter which one you’re talking about because we love them all. But just for a moment, let’s stick with Disney World snacks. Now, about them, we wanted to pick your brains and find out if and what controversial Disney World snacks you regretted trying! Well, we asked and you delivered!
We reached out to our followers on Facebook to ask: “Which controversial Disney Word snack do you REGRET trying?” We had quite a few people leave their opinions in the comments!
Now, let’s dive into some of your top responses!
School Bread
Right out of the gate, it was SUPER clear that there were so many of you who tried School Bread from over in the Norway Pavilion at EPCOT and seriously regretted it. (The majority of you in the comments responded this way.)
To this point, DFB reader Em shared, “School bread. Everyone raved. It was horrible.” DFB reader Hope noted, “The school bread. Everything I read about it was so positive. I think it tasted like a week old, dried out hunk of bread.” Also, DFB reader Alexandra shared, “School bread. One bite and couldn’t eat anymore. I don’t get the hype.”
Cheeseburger Pods
Listen, there were a fair amount of you who must have had very similar experiences with the Cheeseburger Pods from Satuli Canteen in Animal Kingdom because you were quite insistent about your regret.
To this point, DFB reader Stacy shared, “Not sure it’s a snack, but the cheeseburger pods. So overrated. I expected them to be amazing after hearing so much about them. But I found them dry and I even bit into something hard in one of them. Never again.” Also, DFB reader Kathy shared, “I wanted to like the cheeseburger pods at Satuli Canteen, but I was so disappointed. I don’t think they’re good at all.”
Wookiee Cookie
Even being Star Wars fans didn’t stop some of you from feeling the regret of trying the Wookiee Cookie. You could just feel the disappointment that was evident in your responses.
To that point, DFB reader Colleen shared, “Not sure if it’s controversial, but the Wookie Cookie was definitely NOT what we were hoping for. Very bland oatmeal cookie flavor and the filling was meh.” DFB reader Lindsay shared, “Wookie cookie. I heard so many good things about it so I made it a mission to get it on my last trip. The cookies were so stale.” Also, DFB reader Britt mentioned, “Wookie cookie at Backlot H.S. You described it like an oatmeal creme pie and it makes me wonder if you even know Little Debbie…🤦🏼♀️”
Turkey Leg
Be honest. You knew this one was going to come up! Truly, you might be able to make the case that the turkey leg is the most polarizing snack at Disney World and quite a few of you still harbor regrets about trying them.
To this point, DFB reader Stacie shared, “I wanted to love them SO MUCH…but sadly, the turkey leg. They smell and look amazing but I could barely get two bites out of it.” DFB reader Shannon also shared, “Turkey leg. Always see them and finally tried on our last visit – and it was a hard no. Could not eat it.” Also, DFB reader Brodie mentioned, “TURKEY LEG should be illegal 🤢”
Pickle Milkshake
Look, sometimes the teams over at Disney World try to get really creative with their food and drink options. Sometimes what they present are hit and some are complete misses. And then we have the Pickle Milkshake. We’ll leave it up to your imagination as to the total number of you who were scarred by this one.
To this point, DFB reader Christina shared, “The pickle milkshake still haunts my dreams.”
Grey Stuff Cupcake
Last up, a few of you shared that this popular Beauty and the Beast-themed snack just wasn’t quite what you were expecting!
To this point, DFB reader Emily shared, “The grey stuff! Not for me. Way too much of a milky flavor.” DFB reader Megan shared, “The grey stuff cupcake. It had no taste and we were all so disappointed.” Lastly, DFB reader Cindy shared, “The grey stuff cupcake. They wrapped a flimsy paper on the cupcake part, and I almost dropped it. I want them to bring it back when it was on a cookie at the bottom. The cakes had way too much fondant on to actually be able to eat them.”
Those were just some of the controversial Disney World snacks that you regret trying, and we want to hear more from you! Until then, keep it right here for all the latest Disney news! Also, follow us on Facebook to join in on the next discussion.

I loved the school bread and tried it after reading about it on the DFB Blog

The Wookie Cookie used to be amazing. My familty tried it for the first time in 2022 after reading/hearing about it here. The cookies were soft and chewy and, combined with the cream sandwiched between them, was a delicious snack. Ok, so it’s not exactly like a Little Debbie oatmeal cream pie, but it was a good oatmeal cookie cream pie. We went back this year and agree with some of the comments. The cookies were hard and crumbly. I don’t know how they baked them, but instead of a domed-shaped cookie, the edges were higher than the middle. Don’t know if they’ve changed the recipe or are just rushing things, but it’s definitely decreased in quality since the first time we had them.

I love the school bread.
Lina Sheahan says
The school bread used to be made the traditional Norwegian way: custard baked into a soft cardamom yeast bun, not sitting on top, with plain coconut, not toasted. That looks NOTHING like traditional school bread…

ok…i know this one is going to be very unpopular but, my husband and i really were not impressed with the bread service at Sanaa. we were staying at Jambo House and decided to get off the bus at Kidani to try the bread service that we had heard soooooo much about. we really were disappointed. not anything we ever need to eat again.
Debbie and John Oswald says
What?!? I love the cheeseburger pods! I bought one to try with my meal after learning about them here. It was so good I bought another. Then I found out from here that they could be bought in the store and I bought a box. Love em!
Libby says
I’m glad I tried it but was disappointed. One and done.
Dan says
I also loved the school bread! However, my wife and kids were not impressed. *shrug*

Tried the School Bread years ago. Wasn’t impressed. It wasn’t bad, but a bland, slightly sweet bread roll isn’t a fancy baked good.
The Pickle Milkshake was weird. Not BAD, but weird. After seeing a bunch of cocktail recipes, with a little alcoholic adjustment, it might be an interesting part of a themed bar.
I don’t bother with Disney Cupcakes. I know what various flavors of cake and frosting taste like. There are more interesting snack/desserts available. Not as pretty perhaps, but better.

Another thing that’s raved about is the Adventureland Spring Rolls. My sister and I stood in line for quite a while to get them, and when we did, they were just “meh”. I felt the same about the cheeseburger pods- with them, it was too much pod, not enough filling.
Jodi Walker says
School bread and cheeseburger pods are both awesome!!! They are must-get foods every time we go to Disney World, as well as the cheeseburger spring rolls in Adventureland.
Vicki Daley says
I liked the School Bread and the Lefse (I have Norwegian relatives). Didn’t care for the bread service at Sanaa. Like the Cheeseburger Pods, have had them several times. LOVE the Pongo Lumpia and Night Blossom. I have had maybe one fancy cupcake and it had no flavor. Save room for Gideon’s cake AND cookies!

The wookie cookie has changed and not for the good. We first tried three years so good. Tried again about 18 months ago awful. Really sad too cause it was great!
