Take a deep breath, everyone — another MAJOR change has hit Disney World. Don’t worry though — we’re here covering it all for you!
Not only has the name of Genie+ changed to Lightning Lane Multi Pass (and Individual Lightning Lanes are now Lightning Lane Single Pass), but it’s also completely changing how you do Disney World. Now you’ll be able to PRE-BOOK your Lightning Lanes! But wait — how much does this new(ish) service cost? We’re here to tell you ALL about it.
Previously, the old system (Genie+) started at $15 per person, per day and that price was determined based on the popularity of which park you were heading to that day, with one of the highest prices being the Multi-Park option (allowing you to park hop). We’d seen that price jump all the way up to $39 during busy times, but we’re finding out just how much this new service costs.
There are two parts to this new service — Lightning Lane Multi Pass (previously Disney Genie+) and Lightning Lane Single Pass (previously Individual Lightning Lanes). Just like before, these are two SEPARATE costs, but you can choose up to 3 of each 7 days in advance of the first day of your trip for Disney World hotel guests, and up to 3 days in advance for all other guests.
For the first day of Lightning Lane Multi Pass (July 24th), the pricing looked like this:
- Magic Kingdom — $29
- EPCOT — $21
- Hollywood Studios — $26
- Animal Kingdom — $18
This pricing was consistent with the pricing for Disney Genie+ for the past few days, and we had seen these prices on weekdays for most of July. So, it does not look like the new system will have a price increase — at least for now!
As for Lightning Lane Single Pass rides, here was the July 24th pricing:
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train — $12
- TRON Lightcycle / Run — $20
- Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind — $17
- Rise of the Resistance — $25
- Avatar Flight of Passage — $16
Again, this pricing is consistent with what we have been seeing for Individual Lightning Lanes most days this summer.
And because this system now allows you to book in advance, Disney released pricing for Multi Pass and Single Pass through August 14th! Here’s a breakdown:
- July 25th: Magic Kingdom — $29, EPCOT — $21, Hollywood Studios — $26, Animal Kingdom — $18

Now, when you’re going to book ahead of time, Disney says you will have the option to book BOTH Single Passes and Multi Passes in the same transaction for your WHOLE vacation. However, at the time of this post’s publication, Single Pass pricing was only available for July 24th in the My Disney Experience App.
Disney is also introducing a tiered system for ride selections (or reintroducing, technically, from the previous extinct FastPass+ service). At Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, from the 3 advance selections you make for Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you’ll be able to choose one experience from a higher-tiered group and two experiences (or all three) from a lower-tiered group. However, tiers do not apply at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Andrea says
We cannot book the lightening lanes in advance from the UK on the Disney app (even with VPN). So frustrating. Any ideas?!
Kathy D says
Just curious why it’s slightly cheaper to purchase on the weekends. I assume weekends are busier at the parks? Usually prices go up when it’s busier.
JD says
So if I buy the AK option and book my 3 advance reservations there – after those 3 can I start booking at another park with a hopper ticket? Even though the other parks are much more expensive? It doesn’t look like there is “hopper” pricing for this.
DFB Gigi says
Hi JD. Yes, you can. The pricing will not change if you start in AK and then switch over to Hollywood Studios. The premium price you’re paying is to allow you to grab the most popular attractions first in X park.

First day people have already found rides sold out before they could book? Single lightenlanes sold out. Not as good far. Will be worse for 3 day window vistors.

My kids want the passes to see z Mickey , Mini & the Princesses
There should be no difference in booking 7 days & 3 days in advance everything will be gone
