Okay, so one thing we love about Disneyland food (and there is a LOT to love) is that we often see really interesting combinations.
For example, we’re still completely intrigued by the Pickle Corn Dog from Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs in Downtown Disney that comes with a peanut butter dipping sauce. Plus there are some really interesting flavor combinations happening in San Fransokyo Square at Lucky Fortune Cookery, where Mexican food meets Asian food: Birria Ramen? OKAY. Well, we’ve found a new combination that combines a cheeseburger with pizza, and, well, let’s talk about it.
Meet the new Cheeseburger Flatbread at Red Rose Taverne in Disneyland. It’s made with Pickle Aïoli Sauce, Ground Beef, Grilled Onions, and Cheddar Cheese, topped with Demiglace and Pickle-Arugula salad for $14.99. Okay, we know what you’re thinking — that’s a LOT of pickle flavors — and you would be right.
We thought the pizza was okay, but our reporter is NOT a big fan of pickles. So you gotta love the pickles to enjoy this, for sure, because you get that flavor in almost every bite. However, the pickle arugula was fresh and crunchy with a nice dill flavor. The meat was seasoned well, and we liked the slightly sweet extra meaty flavor the demiglace added. However, some bites are kinda soggy because of the aioli and demiglace. We also thought the pizza was a little greasy.
In these photos, it might not look like there’s not a lot of meat, but believe us — it’s there. It’s just covered with all that cheese (which we have zero complaints about). This is certainly not our favorite Disney flatbread, though, and maybe a cheeseburger just shouldn’t be turned into a pizza.
We also made our way to Tropical Hideaway to try the new Char Siu Bao and side of Bao Sauce. The Char Siu Bao is made with Sweet sticky Roasted Pork, in a sweet BBQ Sauce dusted with Paprika for $6.49, while the side of sauce is $1.39. The bao itself has a nice sticky texture and sweet flavor.
Inside, you’ll find warm, sweet pork. YUM. That pork is SO tender, too.  The sauce has a brown sugar-like flavor and adds a nice sweetness when you dip the bao in it. However, this does pack a little heat, so it may not be the best snack for a hot day (and the sauce makes it even more spicy). Yes, this has a bit of a kick. The paprika on top just adds a light flavor, though.
We also need to let you know that the Lumpia has also returned to Tropical Hideaway if you’ve been missing it. It’s a Lumpia filled with pork and vegetables for $9.49. We will always recommend this. It’s sort of like a spring roll with a warm and crunchy exterior and steamed fresh veggies and pork on the inside.
If the Char Siu Bun is a bit too spicy for you, this is a better substitute because it doesn’t pack quite as much heat.
So that’s our latest snack roundup from Disneyland. Stay tuned to DFB for more.
