Disney World is full of divisive topics that we hardly seem to agree on! Even our team seems to be divided over things like which snacks, character meal changes, and which park is the best.
But, Disney fans aren’t always so dysfunctional as there’s a handful of things we ALL seem to agree on!
Yes folks, there are several instances we can think of where we feel almost betrayed by decisions Disney World made. And while some of these instances have been righted after being wronged (cough… hush puppies… cough), there’s a few happenings that we all seem to have a hard time justifying in our Disney-lovin’ hearts.
We’ve banded together to bring you a few of the things that Disney World has CHANGED that we feel was a change for the worse (and we’re also including what we feel like is a fix for them)!
Be Our Guest Quick Service Meals
OOH, you should have expected us to come out swingin’ on this first one — did we deliver? Yep, Be Our Guest Restaurant USED to offer two (count ’em, TWO) different quick service meals daily. When the restaurant originally opened back in 2012, the quick service meals were the only ones you could make advance dining reservations for in all of Disney World (and boy, were they POPULAR)!
We were probably Be Our Guest Restaurant’s biggest fans of both breakfast…
… and lunch with the self-service drink stations. It’s a time we remember fondly. So what happened? Well, we’re not sure. These meals debuted along with a table-service option strictly for dinner but, all that changed when the restaurant reopened after the pandemic closures. When it reopened, Be Our Guest Restaurant debuted a brand new menu change to the same prix-fixe menu served for lunch and dinner and the breakfast option just never made its (triumphant) return.
This was a change that sparked quite the debate among diners who were previously huge fans of the restaurant, and we’ve heard from some readers that due to this change alone, they’ve opted not to return.
Fresh Fruit Waffle Injustice
There’s one snack in Magic Kingdom that seemed to have all of our collective taste buds in a chokehold, and that was the Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich from Sleepy Hollow Refreshments. Just looking at it and all it’s glorious fresh cut fruits toppled onto the warm soft waffle which was covered with a layer of thick hazelnut spread was enough to get our tastebuds screaming (almost quite literally) over it.
However, whatever powers that be decided the Fresh Fruit Waffle had run its course, and decisions were made to change the menu at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments. The replacement for this snack hack of a meal was a Mickey-shaped waffle that you can have topped with either hazelnut spread and bananas, berries and whipped cream, or the same topping combos over a funnel cake.
Sure, they’ve got mostly the same elements as before but now you’ve got to pay an extra $1 for the berries, ANNNNND the Mickey waffle as your base just doesn’t have the same walkability score as our tried and true trusty waffle. Please, Disney World, bring back the fresh fruit waffle (cried us all in one collective voice).
RIP Magical Express
Sometimes, you just don’t know a good thing until it’s gone. And that seems to ring so true with Disney’s Magical Express.
This complimentary motorcoach service used to be included for those staying at a Disney World hotel and offered a great value built into your package pricing when needing round trip transportation from Orlando International Airport (MCO) to your Disney World hotel.
But, as we’ve seen with so many things lately, times are a changin’ and with that brought about the demise of the Magical Express service. Today, you can still hitch a ride on a shared motorcoach strikingly similar to what used to exist with the Magical Express service through Mears Transportation or opt for a less populated ride through a Minnie Van, taxi, or rideshare service. While the cost isn’t too steep and specials are run fairly often through the paid service, it just can’t quite beat “free”.
So there you have them — these are the things we think all Disney fans can agree on together! We’re sure there’s more, so don’t be too shy to leave your ideas in the comments for us and make sure you’re following us at Disney Food Blog for more.

Airport check in at the resorts

Here’s something that I’m finding a bit outrageous. I got a phone call and a voicemail from the Edison at Disney Springs about my reservation for September 4 at 4:45. I was informed that the restaurant was being used for a special event, and I was asked to move my reservation to lunch or another day. I have never heard of this sort of request before. Is this a normal occurrence?

There was something truly magical about ordering and paying for our lunches at BOG and placing that rose on our table; then getting our soft drinks and not long afterward this fancy cart rolled up with our meals on it.
