NEWS: 'Toy Story 5' Is Coming to Theaters in 2026!

“To infinity and beyond”…and maybe even beyond that because one of our favorite movies is coming back with another sequel!

Nope, we’re not pulling your leg here (or placing a snake in your boot), the Toy Story gang is back for another adventure and we are hooting and hollering and yee-hawing about it!

Toy Story is one of the most beloved Disney movies of all time with iconic characters, music, and quotes we still recite to this day (seriously, there’s a Toy Story quote for everything). It’s so monumental that there’s even an ENTIRE land themed after it at Hollywood Studios. So of course, once news of this sequel was made official, we had to run-like-the-wind-Bullseye style and tell you all about it!

Toy Story has four movies, making this upcoming film the fifth installment in the series! Over the past few years, we’ve heard hints about this possible sequel, but Disney and Pixar have officially announced that it’s in the works, giving us details about the new film and what we can expect so far.

Pete Docter, Chief Creative Officer of Pixar, announced that Andrew Stanton, who worked with Pete on the first Toy Story, directed Finding Nemo, Finding Dory, and Wall-e, will be directing Toy Story 5! The new installment will be coming exclusively to theaters in 2026.

The toys will find their jobs to be there for kids harder than ever as they compete with electronics. Stanton shared, “Through the experiences of these toys, we’ve learned about loyalty and belonging and friendship, and these characters give a perspective about growing up and navigating life.”

This movie sounds endearing, and a scene was even teased that there may be an issue with 50 Buzz toys being stuck in rogue action mode. We can’t wait for Buzz Lightyear chaos!
