Happy Halloween!!!
Okay, we are VERY excited for the OFFICIAL start of spooky season in Disney World. The Halloween decorations are UP in Magic Kingdom, the Halloween treats have arrived, and the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is underway. So why don’t you join us for the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party of the year? We’ll take you through all the sights, sounds, snacks, and more! Let’s go!
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a separately ticketed event that occurs on select nights in Magic Kingdom from now through October 31st. Although the party doesn’t officially start until 7PM (when Magic Kingdom closes to those without a party ticket), those with tickets can get into Magic Kingdom as early as 4PM.
Ticket prices start at $119 and go up to $199 depending on the date you plan to attend. We’ve got all the dates and ticket prices right here. Party tickets for each party are limited, so you get exclusive access to Magic Kingdom with fewer crowds, as well as exclusive party entertainment, food, ride overlays, and more.

Getting Started
Like we previously said, a party ticket can get you into Magic Kingdom three hours before the official party start time. Once you scan into the park, you’ll get a party wristband from a Cast Member. You’ll need this wristband because it separates party visitors from Magic Kingdom’s day visitors.
If you’re already in Magic Kingdom for the day, you can pick up a wristband at different spots in Magic Kingdom. Look for signs that say “Wristband Distribution.”
Crowds
We headed into Magic Kingdom right at 4PM to take full advantage of the party and were met with some pretty large crowds at the TTC — we definitely weren’t the only ones thinking the same thing! There were also some delays at the TTC, which didn’t help crowds — a parking tram broke down in the parking lot, AND the Monorail was delayed.
While getting through the TTC was rough, by the time we actually made it to the park, entrance lines weren’t bad at all!
Just look at how open it is!
As people walked into the special entrance Cast Members directed party-goers to, Cruella was waving hello to guests and greeting them in her unique way.
Interestingly, one of the LONGEST lines we spotted during the party was NOT for a ride! In fact, that long line was located in Liberty Square at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments.
Here’s a tip for ya: if you’re looking for a treat from Sleepy Hollow, place a mobile order instead!
We’ll keep you updated on the rest of the crowds!
The Map
When you enter Magic Kingdom for the party, you’ll be able to pick up a special party map that will have all the party details you need, including showtimes for entertainment, trick-or-treating, character meet and greets, and more.
This thing can come in handy, so make sure to keep one on you at all times! Plus, it makes a fun souvenir.
Trick-or-Treating
One of the most fun things you can do at the party is go trick-or-treating. Yes, adults get to trick-or-treat in Disney World! You’ll be given a reusable treat bag when you enter the park for the party. Pro tip: bring your own bag because the free bags are WAY too small for all the candy you’ll get.
There is also a special treat bag for those with food allergies. Oh, and here’s a peek at the special m&m’s treat you’ll get as you enter the party!
You’ll find spots all over the park where you can get some candy — check the park map for locations.
Food
Okay, the BEST part of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is the exclusive food you’ll find at the party (yes, we’re biased because we ARE the Disney FOOD Blog). We started the party with a little sweet treat! This is the Minnie Witch Hat from Main Street Bakery — available for $7.99. Stay tuned for our full review.

We’re covering EVERYTHING you can get exclusively at the party, so check out our post below so you’re prepared to do some shopping during your visit.
Fair warning: The Emporium gift shop gets SUPER crowded, so be prepared!
Characters
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party brings out SPECIAL characters you can meet throughout the evening. Before the party even officially started, there was a HUGE line to meet Jack and Sally!
However, it’s totally worth it to meet these two.
You can also meet Mickey in his special Halloween duds.
His friends are joining him in their best Halloween gear, too!
Even Mirabel and Bruno are coming out to say hello to party guests.
Oh, and we have some GREAT news: Disney introduced some VILLAINS to the party this year! We saw Maleficent…
…The Evil Queen…
…and Jafar!
We spotted a BUNCH of villains near the front of Magic Kingdom.
Photo Opportunities
You’ll also want to keep an eye out for special photo opportunities throughout Magic Kingdom, like this Legend of Sleepy Hollow photo op.
We even saw a 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea photo op. Say what?
In addition to the fun photo ops, you can also get some cool Magic Shots during the party.
Costumes
Before you even ask, YES, you CAN wear a costume to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.
Note that Disney does have specific rules about costumes, though.
For visitors ages 13 and under:
- Costumes and some costume masks may be worn; masks must provide unobstructed peripheral vision at all times with openings that allow the eyes to be fully seen.
For Guests 14 Years of Age or Older:
- Costumes may be worn according to these guidelines. Guests who do not adhere to these guidelines may be refused entry into, and/or removed from Disney parks, unless his or her costume can be modified to meet the above standards:
- All Guests may dress as their favorite character, but may not pose for pictures or sign autographs for other Guests.
- Costumes must be family-friendly and may not be obstructive, offensive, objectionable or violent.
- Costumes may not contain any props or accessories that resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.
- Costumes may not contain sharp objects, pointed objects or materials that may accidentally strike another Guest.
- Layered costumes or costume props that surround the entire body are strongly discouraged and may be subject to additional security screening.
- Costumes may not reach or drag on the ground. (for example, full-length Princess dresses)
- Capes may be worn if the length does not go below the waist.
- Themed T-shirts, blouses, sweatshirts and hats are acceptable.
- Acceptable accessories include: transparent wings, plastic light sabers, toy swords and tutus. Costume headwear may be worn as long as it does not cover the face.
- Costume masks of any kind may not be worn.
We’ll be on the lookout for more fun costumes at this year’s event!
Entertainment
Fireworks
Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular has returned for this year’s party. You’ll love this Halloween-themed fireworks display that includes special effects, projections, special lighting, Disney characters, and — of course — fireworks!
This is one fireworks show you don’t want to miss!
Dessert Parties
If you want to guarantee a good spot for the fireworks, you can book a fireworks dessert party. There are two you can choose from: one at Tomorrowland Terrace and another in the Plaza Gardens.
You can get details and prices about the dessert parties here.
Parade
Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade has returned for this year, too. This spooky parade happens twice each night of the party, first at 9:15PM and then again at 11:15PM (another pro tip: the second parade is usually less crowded).
This is another entertainment offering you’ll want to make sure you make time for.
Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular
Be sure to gather around Cinderella Castle to catch the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular! The Sanderson Sisters are BACK, along with your favorite Disney villains, for a show that’s sure to put a spell on you.
Attractions
If you’re looking to ride some attractions with short wait times, here’s your chance. Even better, though, some rides have special overlays you can only experience during the party, including a Halloween-themed Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor.
Here’s a full list of rides open during the party:
