We go to Disney World every day, and not only have we learned a thing or two about Disney World, but we have also heard some cringey things while we are out and about in the parks.
Now, we know that we have extensive knowledge of Disney, and not everyone cares to memorize every piece of information about Disney World, like where all the best bathrooms are, where you should eat for breakfast, and the hundreds of Disney facts like we do. And that is totally understandable, but we can’t help but cringe when we hear something so inaccurate.
The Disney World Skyliner system has been transporting guests in the sky for almost five years now! The Skyliner makes stops at Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Riveria Resort, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios. There are different Skyliner lines, and transfers are made at the Skyliner Hub located at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort.
The BIGGEST Skyliner Mistakes Rookies Make
The Skyliner is a great and efficient way to get around to different parks and hotels. It comes in handy when you want to park hop between EPCOT and Hollywood Studios and is also efficient for hotel guests who are staying at a Skyliner Resort.
We ride the Skyliner not only for efficient transportation but also to report on any changes, and sometimes we even ride it for fun! You may have heard of the Monorail Bar Crawl, but you can also do a Skyliner Bar Crawl to check out the Skyliner Resorts!
With that being said, we have been on the Skyliner A LOT and we have experienced A LOT while on board and have also heard A LOT of cringey things while riding the Skyliner.
When is the Stop for Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom?
Disney World transportation can be confusing to understand since there are so many different complimentary options, such as the Skyliner, Monorail, buses, and watercraft. You can even pay for your own private ride to get around the resort by taking a Minnie Van run by Lyft!
So, while we cringe when we hear a statement like this, we understand that it is easy to just assume that all transportation can take you all around the resort, but this is not the case.
The Monorail can take you to EPCOT, Magic Kingdom, The Transportation and Ticket Center, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridan Resort, and Disney’s Contemporary Resort. You can even take watercraft and buses to these parks, depending on where you are staying! But unfortunately, the Skyliner won’t take you to Magic Kingdom.
Animal Kingdom, on the other hand, is limited to taking a Disney bus, driving your own car, or catching a ride on a Minnie Van to get to the park. You can’t take a Monorail, the Skyliner, or even a boat over to Animal Kingdom.
OMG, We Are Stuck!
It can be scary being high above the sky with no way to get down, but it is totally normal for the Skyliner to stop or slow down from time to time. Sometimes, people need a little extra time at the load station to board. The Skyliner is constantly moving even when you board. But when people need extra time, Cast Members will stop or slow down the flow of the Skyliner.
Chances are, if you stop mid-flight, you will start moving again shortly!
Unexpected Problems You Could Encounter on the Skyliner
We’re Gonna Crash!
We can’t lie. Some of us are guilty of this one, except we are trying to keep our cool as the Disney experts, and we don’t say it out loud.
If you have ridden the Skyliner, you know that it comes in HOT when you come into the station! You may think you are about to crash into another gondola, but that is just how the Skyliner normally comes into the station.
It can be fun to see other people in your party be so shocked by the swiftness of the Skyliner. We will say, though, that the Skyliner has crashed coming into the station, but this is very, very rare.
I Don’t Feel So Good
This is definitely not a statement you want to hear while you are up in the air and with strangers.
One of our team members said that they were riding the Skyliner when someone in another party started not to feel good and ended up throwing up while they were mid-flight. This can be so awkward and uncomfortable for both parties, but the only thing you can do is wait for the next stop to get off and inform the nearest Cast Member.
If you are scared of heights or prone to motion sickness, the Skyliner may not be the best transportation option for you.
While we know that we have a crazy amount of Disney knowledge compared to the average person, we can’t help but cringe when we hear statements like this around the parks.
