It may only be August, but it’s time for Halloween in Disney World!
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party already kicked off for the season with trick-or-treating, special entertainment, and plenty of rare characters. And now, we’re spotting Halloween treats and snacks all around Disney World!
During recent visits to Disney’s BoardWalk, we tried out not one, but TWO special seasonal snacks. First up was the Halloween Mummy Cupcake from BoardWalk Deli for $6.49. It’s a spiced vanilla cupcake with apple compote and milk chocolate mousse.
The spice cake here was incredibly flavorful, and we could really taste the clove and cinnamon throughout. However, the apple pie filling was a little lackluster — there isn’t much of it quantity-wise and what we did have was underwhelming.
The chocolate mousse takes more of the flavor here, as it was buttery and rich. We also quite enjoyed the sprinkles because they added some nice crunch to the textures of the cake. Overall, it was pretty good, but we wish the apple filling had been a bit more punchy.
The other treat we stopped by to snag was the Halloween Macaron Trio from Carousel Coffee in the BoardWalk Inn lobby. You can get these three little pastries for $7.99.
The trio comes with three different flavors of macaron. First, there’s the Pumpkin-spiced Milk Chocolate macaron, which is topped with little chocolate bats. The pumpkin spice flavor really comes through in the cookie, and the rich chocolate filling pairs well with it. This was my favorite (and the least messy) of the three.
The teal-colored macaron in the middle is the Green Apple-Caramélia Chocolate flavor. The green apple doesn’t really come through at all, but the caramel filling is fairly strong. It was mostly just sweet, without much other flavor.
The third of the macarons was a Blood Orange-Dark Chocolate flavor. This one was topped with the dark chocolate, but it melted almost IMMEDIATELY when I took it outside to snap photos (so be warned!). The blood orange flavor is in the filling, and it comes through fairly strongly with notes of citrus and a little bit of tartness. Since the chocolate mostly melted off, it was hard to get the combination of chocolate and orange on this one.
Ultimately, this trio is a little bit pricey for the portion you get, and while I believe they could sell the pumpkin spice macaron on its own with great success, I’m not sure if the other two are going to be quite as well-liked. If you’re a macaron lover, you might want to try them, but we probably won’t encourage you to go out of your way to try them.
Keep in mind that these are only available for the Halloween season, so you’ll want to hurry if you’d like to try them out!
So there you have it — two new treats at Disney’s BoardWalk to try during your next visit! We’ll keep you in the loop with more updates from the parks and resorts in Disney World, and of course, all the Halloween news!
