Universal Orlando just released a behind-the-scenes look at one of their newest roller coasters coming to Epic Universe in 2025.
The Ride Guys, Mike and Dylan, joined JC, the Executive Producer for Ride & Show, for a sneak peek at Stardust Racers. We learned about the story behind the coaster, learned about some unique features, and even got a close-up look at the ride vehicles.
Epic Universe is a brand-new theme park that will be opening in Orlando, Florida in 2025. The theme park will feature more than 50 awe-inspiring attractions, entertainment, dining, and shopping experiences. The park is made up of five themed lands: Celestial Park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, and Dark Universe.
Stardust Racers is located inside of the Celestial Park area and is a dual-launch racing coaster that will reach speeds up to 62 miles per hour. When the ride opens, it will have a 48 inch height requirement. JC, the Executive Producer for Ride & Show, talked a lot about this new roller coaster and what makes it unique.
The story behind the coaster is that the citizens of Celestial Park, known as Celestians, have figured out a way to harness and capture the energy of the comets. It has become a past-time of the Celestians to ride them across the night sky, and now we are also going to be able to experience this on Stardust Racers. That’s right, we are going to be riding comets!
Stardust Racers seeks to combine the nostalgic feel of a wooden roller coaster with the 360 immersive experience of the Celestial Spin. The Celestial Spin is something that JC was extremely excited about and occurs after the second launch.
Since it is a racing coaster, two ride vehicles will be competing against each other and during the Celestial Spin, the ride vehicles maneuver around each other. Guests in one ride vehicle will be looking up at the other ride vehicle, and then moments later it will be reversed. That is going to be such a cool moment during the ride! You are basically going upside down on top of another ride vehicle!
As well, this roller coaster will be special because they decided not to utilize any exterior track lighting. While the area of Celestial Park will have millions and millions of light pixels, the only lighting on Stardust Racers will come from the ride vehicles.

The ride was designed this way to give the look that the ride vehicles are comets shooting through the night sky. How COOL is that!? We can’t wait to see what it looks like in person.
The video also featured some pretty awesome shots of the ride vehicles including close-ups of some of the lighting details.
This roller coaster looks like it is going to be an exhilarating ride and we can’t wait to experience it when Epic Universe opens in 2025.
While The Ride Guys did not get a chance to ride this new coaster just yet, they promised they would be back soon. You can watch the full behind-the-scenes video with The Ride Guys right here:
