We all love EPCOT in Disney World, right?
And there are some strong reasons to love EPCOT. It’s home to some iconic rides like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Test Track, and Soarin’ Around the World and we haven’t even brought up any of the festivals. That being said, there are some hard truths you need to know about this park.
Let’s talk about some of the hard truths about EPCOT. They may cause you a bit of frustration, but we’ve got your back! We are here to help make sure your EPCOT trip is the best ever!
Soarin’ is amazing, but it’s also a cruel reminder of all the places you haven’t been.
Let’s start with Soarin’. This is the ride that takes you on a journey above some of the most beautiful places in the world. It’s hard not to be in awe of the world’s beauty as you glide over the Eiffel Tower, swoop through the Great Wall of China, and soar above the plains of Africa.
But as the ride ends and you’re gently lowered back into reality, there’s a nagging feeling that starts to creep in — “Why haven’t I been to any of these places in real life?”
Sure, it’s incredible to experience these wonders from the comfort of a theme park seat, but it’s also a not-so-subtle reminder of all the stamps missing from your passport. Of course we love Disney, but there’s a part of us that wishes we were boarding a real flight to these destinations instead of having to step back out into the Florida heat.
So while Soarin’ is definitely a must-do, just be prepared for a side of existential dread as you exit the ride.

Too Many Good Choices, Not Enough Stomach Space
We love all the eats you can get at EPCOT, especially during the various festivals that dot the calendar. Whether you’re talking about the Food & Wine Festival, Flower & Garden, or any of the others, the park turns into a veritable smorgasbord of just delectable options. And THAT’S where the problem really begins — there are just TOO many good choices.
Should you grab tacos in Mexico, sushi in Japan, or head to France for some delicious pastries? The FOMO is real. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself spending half your day debating where to eat next. We all think we can pace ourselves, but let’s be honest, more likely than not, we’re going to try everything that catches our eyes.
But the truth is that there’s only so much space in your tummy. You’ll hit a point where you simply can’t fit another bite and that’s when the regret starts to set in, especially as you pass by a food booth with other dishes you were excited about.

The World Showcase is beautiful, but it’s also really big.
The World Showcase is definitely the crown jewel of EPCOT. It gives guests the chance to experience the culture, cuisine, and architecture of 11 different countries. It’s stunning, immersive, and it’s also 1.2 miles around! That might not sound like much at first, but after a few laps, your feet will be telling you otherwise.
What usually starts as a leisurely stroll through the pavilions quickly turns into a test of endurance. Let’s say you start the day sipping on a glass of wine in Italy, then marveling at the intricate details of the Moroccan architecture, but by the time you hit the UK pavilion, you’re just looking for a place to sit down.
The “good” thing is that by the end of the day, your Fitbit will be celebrating you, but your feet will be telling you a different tale.

Spaceship Earth: A Journey Through Time…That’s Still Stuck in the Past
Is there anything more iconic about EPCOT than Spaceship Earth? It’s a ride that takes you through the history of human communication. It’s nostalgic, educational, and, let’s be real, it’s a little outdated.
The last major update to Spaceship Earth was in 2007, and it’s showing a bit. The animatronics are charming in a retro kind of way, but there’s no denying that the ride could definitely need a refresh.
Now, Disney had plans to give it a much-needed refurbishment, but those plans have been shelved indefinitely. So, for now, we’ve got a ride that ends its journey through time somewhere in the early 2000s, but it’s kind of painful how much has changed since then.
We still love Spaceship Earth and it’s undeniably a classic, but it’s a classic that absolutely needs to catch up with the times.

Don’t worry Soarin’. I have been to those places. I’ve been to Paris & the Great Wall of China (in Epcot)! And I’ve been to the plains of Africa (in the Animal Kingdom)!
(Actually IRL I have been to Paris & Neuschwanstein.)
