We’ll just let y’all know that we LOVE EPCOT. It’s funny because as kids, many of us thought it wasn’t all that great (granted, there’s a LOT more for kids to enjoy at EPCOT now), but as adults, EPCOT could be our favorite park in Disney World.
One, you can literally travel AROUND the world in a day, shopping for souvenirs from each country, eating around the world, drinking around the world (and we have a warning about that in a bit), and more. Plus you’ve got the EVER classic Spaceship Earth, and one of our personal favorite chill rides of all time, Living With The Land (don’t come at us because we don’t play when it comes to this ride). But there are some truths about this park that could have you regretting your decisions.
Drinking around the world
Drinking around the world sounds fun in theory…until you’re walking through the EPCOT World Showcase in the middle of summer with a few drinks under your belt. For the record, there are 11 countries, and that’s a lot for one day.
Instead, EAT your way around the world. Grab a snack in each pavilion and work your way around the world that way. We like to grab snacks we can take back home with us, like some fun chips in China, candy bars from the U.K., and fun treats from Japan. You could also try drinking around the world in a different way: there are a lot of great non-alcoholic drinks available, too, like the Frozen Mint Tea in Morocco.
You can mix and match boozy drinks with non-boozy ones for a way better experience that won’t leave you feeling like you’ve been hit by a truck the next day.

You can’t take drinks into Journey of Water
If you’re planning on grabbing a drink before heading into the interactive area that is Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana, don’t. That’s because drinks are not allowed in the attraction. So either drink before you walk inside or grab a drink after.
However, commercially bottled water in plastic bottles is allowed, so if you need to hydrate, you’re in luck.
What’s Up With This Weird EPCOT Trend, and Will It Spread to Disney’s Other Parks, Too?
You have to plan your day
We know, we know, a lot of you prefer spontaneity, but EPCOT requires some planning. Why? Because EPCOT is MASSIVE. Not only is it massive, but there aren’t a lot of shortcuts available, especially once you get to World Showcase. You don’t want to be backtracking and circling around World Showcase a lot. So, plan your time in each pavilion accordingly.
The front of EPCOT is a little more walkable now that the construction walls are down, but if you aren’t used to a lot of walking or have mobility problems, you’ll want to have a plan before you start crisscrossing the whole of EPCOT.

If the Skyliner is closed, your feet will hate you
When the Skyliner closes when you’re at EPCOT, you’ll have to walk ALL the way from International Gateway (where the Skyliner is located), through part of World Showcase, through ALL of World Neighborhood to the front entrance, and then to the bus stations (and if you’re staying at a value resort, those bus stations are usually the furthest away).
The Skyliner generally closes when there’s bad weather, so before you head to the station, double-check that it’s open and running.
Unexpected Problems You’ll Have on the Skyliner in Disney World
EPCOT is a full-day park. Period.
Okay, you might think you can do EPCOT in half a day, and you might be able to, but there’s no way you’ll get to enjoy much of it. If this is your first time visiting Disney World, be sure to schedule a full day for EPCOT, especially if you plan on visiting every country and having time to spend in each pavilion. It may not seem like it, but that alone can take up a huge chunk of your day.
We might even argue you might need two days to really experience EPCOT and most of what it has to offer.

PLAN for festivals
If you’re visiting EPCOT during a festival, you’re going to need to do a LOT of planning, especially if you want to visit the food booths and enjoy festival entertainment. Don’t wait until you get to EPCOT and “wing it.” You’ll end up overwhelmed and frustrated (trust us — we’ve seen it happen). So make that list of your festival must-haves and must-dos and figure it all out.
We’ll also recommend visiting EPCOT with a friend if you want to eat from a lot of food booths (it’s easier when you’re sharing). Otherwise, you might want to consider multiple days at a festival.

Mission Space Orange could ruin your whole day
If you have ever had motion sickness, you know how it can ruin an entire day. That’s why we’re telling you to NOT ride Mission SPACE Orange because it’s a ride that puts you on a centrifuge (EXACTLY like what astronauts use) and spins you around to simulate g-forces. It’s potentially the most intense ride you’ve ever been on, and unless you’re an astronaut who’s trained on a centrifuge, it could make you sick for the rest of the day. If you MUST ride Mission SPACE, choose the green side, which doesn’t spin.
If you naturally tend to get motion sickness on some rides, we will also warn you about Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure because those rides can also trigger motion sickness if you’re sensitive to it.

Tracy says
After watching a video featuring the All Ears Team, I decided to ride Spaceship Earth listening to the narration in my second language, which is French. I won’t do that again. The volume of the French narration was so low that I could barely hear it. In fact, I could hear the English narration from the seat behind me better than I could hear the French in my own seat. From now on, I’ll just stick with English.
