It’s Halloween time in Disneyland!
While we’ve celebrated Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party over at Magic Kingdom in Disney World, it’s now time to visit the East Coast parks for some Halloween fun! Oogie Boogie Bash starts on August 25th, but we headed to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure to check out some new Halloween treats ahead of the spooky party. Come on, let’s go to try the new eats!
Disneyland
Edelweiss Snacks
We stopped by Edelweiss Snacks in Fantasyland to try the new Fantasyland Garlic Cheesy Brat. This is a bratwurst in a cheesy garlic pretzel bread, and it looked and smelled amazing! You can grab this large brat for $12.99.
When we grabbed ours we noticed that it is very heavy and rich. It’s very buttery; the butter may have even overpowered the garlic flavor. Luckily, it wasn’t a super greasy meal, but it is a hearty snack. Be ready to share it or be very full after enjoying one to yourself. Overall, we enjoyed it, but we probably wouldn’t get it a second time.
Little Red Wagon
Next, let’s head over to the Little Red Wagon cart on Main Street, U.S.A. for the Blueberry Corn Dog! This specialty corn dog is hand-dipped and topped with blueberry compote and bacon powdered sugar. It’s new this year, and you can enjoy it for $11.59. Our recommendation — it might sound weird, but don’t miss this corn dog!
This was one of our favorite Halloween items we ate at the Disneyland Resort. It was a shining 5 out of 5 stars! It’s both savory and sweet. It reminded us of eating blueberry pancakes with sausage on a stick. The blueberry sauce went really well with the cornbread breading. It wasn’t overly sugary and it had bacon pieces on top, which added even more to the breakfast flavors. We definitely recommend trying this even if it sounds and looks a little weird.
Mint Julep Bar
We’re heading to New Orleans Square to the Mint Julep Bar for the new Tangy Apple Mickey-shaped Beignets! These beignets are dusted with tangy apple powdered sugar and are available in packs of three or six. A three-pack will cost you $6.49, while a six-pack is $10.49.
We got ours served piping hot, so hot we couldn’t even touch them for a bit! The tangy apple flavoring surprised us; we were expecting it to taste pretty artificial, but it was really good! We liked them even more dipped in the caramel sauce that was served with them. The only downside was that we didn’t get a lot of the caramel sauce. But together it was like getting a sweet and sour caramel apple. We really enjoyed these and would wait in line for them again!
Tiana’s Palace
On to Tiana’s Palace for a new Strawberry Pie-filled Beignet! You get one beignet filled with strawberry cream and topped with strawberry glaze for $4.99.
Unfortunately, this beignet disappointed us. They are premade and sitting on the counter waiting to be served, so the bottom was pretty soggy from sitting in the sauce. The strawberries on top were real strawberries which were good and tasted fresh, but the filling was an artificial strawberry flavor. Overall, the beignet was good, but not great.
The Tropical Hideaway
Up next, the Monstropolis Float at The Tropical Hideaway in Adventureland! This new Ube-dusted DOLE Whip Pineapple and Mango has passion fruit coconut juice and lychee fruit, making it look pretty scary. It’s a large treat for $9.29.
If you like tropical flavors, then you’ll really enjoy this refreshing snack! On a hot day, it will melt fast, but then all the flavors combine together making it even better. There’s a lot of coconut flavor, but the passion fruit does eventually hit you. The lychee pieces with the blueberry “pupils” are super fun and tasty! The ube (a purple yam) dust isn’t too strong, and overall, we really enjoyed this, especially after it all blended together.
Plaza Inn
Our last snack in Disneyland Park was the new Poison Apple Cake at the Plaza Inn. It’s a red cinnamon cake with cream cheese and caramelized apple filling, red cream cheese frosting, and a green ganache. You can grab a slice during lunch or dinner for $7.79.
While it’s labeled as a red cinnamon cake, we thought it reminded us more of a red velvet cake. The overall flavor we got from the cake was an apple spice flavor, but unfortunately, it was more artificial tasting than we would have liked. It is VERY red, so be prepared for red teeth and a red tongue.Â
Disney California Adventure
Aunt Cass Café
Next, we headed to Aunt Cass Café in Disney California Adventure for the new Taro Bread Pudding. You’ll get warm taro and white chocolate bread pudding with whipped cream and boba pearls served with a coconut-vanilla sauce — YUM! This tasty dessert is $7.49.
The bread pudding is sweet and moist with a nice light flavor. The boba pearls are tapioca flavored, and overall we tasted more coconut than chocolate in the dessert. We’re rarely disappointed by the bread pudding at Aunt Cass Café, and that was the same here. It was really good!
Select Outdoor Vending Locations
You’ll find the new Ghost Pepper Turkey Leg at select locations around the park. One of these giant turkey legs will cost you $15.00Â if you’re brave enough to try it!
This turkey leg was JUICY. Like most turkey legs at the Disney parks, it’s a bit messy, but if you can get past that, it was actually pretty good. If you tear some meat off it and add it to some bread from Aunt Cass Café, you’ll have a delicious sandwich! It has great flavor and the spice isn’t horrible, though the skin is spicier than the meat underneath. You may want to use a fork and knife to get a few good chunks off it.
Also at select snack carts around the park, you’ll find the new Garlic Cream Cheese Bread! A loaf of this bread is $9.25, and it was a great way to end our day!
This was our second favorite item behind the Blueberry Corn Dog in Disneyland Park! It was made with Hawaiian sweet rolls which are some of the best rolls just by themselves. The cream cheese had the perfect hint of garlic which combined beautifully with the hot honey drizzle. It wasn’t greasy and was totally delicious. We would definitely get this over the Garlic Cheesy Pretzel Bread at Maurice’s Treats and Edelweiss Snacks (mostly because the Hawaiian sweet rolls are superior to the pretzel bread).
It was a day of great snacking! There were only a couple of items that let us down, but the majority were surprisingly delicious. We think you’ll enjoy the Halloween treats around Disneyland Resort this year. If you’re headed there soon, happy snacking!
