It’s no secret that EPCOT is home to some of the best restaurants and snacks you can find in Disney World
The Pretzel Bread Pudding from Germany, the School Bread from Norway (that one’s a little controversial if you don’t like coconut), and The Croque Glaces from France — the list seriously goes on and on. We’re suckers for all the food EPCOT has to offer, but we just recently found out that there’s a SECRET menu item at one of our favorite spots that everyone, especially those with allergies, NEED to know about!
You can try some classic German snacks at Sommerfest, a small quick-service location in the Germany Pavilion in EPCOT. Now, be careful — this spot is almost hidden behind the beautiful archways in the pavilion. If you don’t read what’s written on said archways, you may totally miss it, but just follow the smell of sauerkraut!
Here you’ll find some classic German favorites — giant pretzels, bratwurst, and German wines and beers. While mobile order is available for this spot, we found out that if you order in person from a Cast Member, you can get a secret menu item — a Plant-Based Brat on an allergy-friendly pretzel bun!
Our reporter has also tried the plant-based brat over at Friar’s Nook in Magic Kingdom and said that the pretzel roll used in this one FAR outshines its Magic Kingdom counterpart! This roll has a chewy yet firm consistency that we absolutely loved despite it being a bit longer than the brat (similar to the one at Friar’s Nook). Our only gripe was that the bottom was already split when we got it, but overall, this is such a great little snack!
The sauerkraut here (which they give you a very generous portion of) is more flavorful than Friar’s Nook’s, though the mustard is the same. We kept trying to pinpoint why this meal was so much better and realized it was simply more flavorful overall! Every bite of this meal was packed with flavor, unlike the similar offering at Friar’s Nook, which often falls flat and feels bland. We also were big fans of the seasoned potato chips versus the potato barrels.
To say we’re excited about this new option is an understatement! We love that this is a truly delicious option for those with allergies or who are plant-based eaters, and we highly recommend checking it out the next time you’re in EPCOT if your diet has restrictions!
