We talk about rope dropping the Disney World parks quite a bit, but one of our favorite times to visit the parks is actually late at night!
From holiday parties to After Hours events to Extended Evening Hours, there are plenty of ways to enjoy Disney World once the parks have closed to regular guests. However, if you want to take advantage of these offerings, you’ll definitely need to plan in advance. They’re only available on select nights and sometimes, only certain attractions are available for you to experience!
Extended Evening Hours are perhaps the easiest way to get extra time in the theme parks, as they typically happen twice a week. Guests staying at Disney World Deluxe hotels can enjoy a couple extra hours of park time in select parks on select dates after closing time.
Most often, we see Extended Evening Hours offered at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. However, soon, this perk will be returning to Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom on select nights as well. The Disney World calendar lists the dates when this perk is available, but if you’re interested in the available attractions during Extended Evening Hours, we have an important update for you.
A popular attraction has now been REMOVED from the list of available Extended Evening Hours offerings at Hollywood Studios! A few days ago, Muppet*Vision 3D was listed as one of the attractions that would be open during the later hours, but it has since been removed from that list.
This is particularly notable because there’s quite a bit of discourse surrounding Muppet*Vision 3D at the moment. During D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Disney announced that a new Monsters, Inc. Land would be coming to Hollywood Studios. Since then, many have debated where the land will be located, and it seems that one of the possibilities is for it to replace Muppets Courtyard.
Because of this, fans have been on the lookout for any evidence that the Muppets are in danger! There are alternative locations for the Monsters, Inc. Land, but since Disney hasn’t confirmed a specific spot, things are still up in the air.
We’ll be on the lookout for any more Muppet*Vision 3D news and we’ll keep an eye on its operating schedule! Stay tuned to DFB for more news and updates on everything happening in the parks.

I’m a huge fan of the Muppets, but I would be OK to have the current attraction retired. I would love an omni-mover type attraction with animatronics in its place.

I am so torn. I do NOT want to see Muppets courtyard disappear, and it seems like there is a deliberate effort to eliminate anywhere that people can just sit and cool off at all, much less while being entertained. Universe of Energy was a big loss to us on that point, although Guardians is great. I love the Muppets, but I really don’t like that 3-D creature in the attraction. I tolerate the story in order to get all the great Muppet feels, but I don’t particularly enjoy the show. I love the penguin band. The best part is when Kermit tells Sam how much time he has. And Swedish Chef blasting the stuffing out of the place. That is a great ending. I will miss that. I’ll miss the pre-show too. There are so many places that they could put things, places that are unused or more underutilized than Muppets courtyard. But Disney seems to be set on replacing existing attractions rather than truly expanding. I love Monsters too. I just hope it’s worth it. And I hope that Disney still does something with Muppets. It’s so hard to see really popular characters that don’t get their due.

I really wish that when they announce additions they were actual additions instead of replacements. It’s really sad that so many people have to choose and beloved attractions need to be sacrificed for new ones. Especially when we need the extra space because of long wait times and crowds.

For the love of Heaven , don’t touch anything regarding the Muppets – PLEASE!!! Too many beloved attractions have been taken away. This is a classic and should be left alone , along with the fountain. PLEASE !!
