There is one ride at Disney World that always has rumors looming about a potential re-theme.
Disney World has been updating attractions lately. For example, Splash Mountain turned into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. The Country Bear Jamboree closed and re-opened with a new show of the Bears singing covers of Disney songs. We also got the unfortunate news that we would be losing the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer’s Island to make way for a brand new Cars Land. The difference with these announcements is that we got notice of the changes way before they closed.
When Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster goes down to be refurbished rumors swirl around that the ride will open with a new theme. And while we know that these rumors have been going on for years, we must say it seems a little silly to freak out over it.
We are not saying that we would not miss Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Staring Aerosmith, but instead saying that there is no reason to panic until Disney announces something. In most cases Disney gives fair warning of when a project is to start. For example, if you want to experience It’s Tough to Be a Bug! one more time, you need to do so soon as Zootopia: Better Zoogether will take its place in Winter of 2025.
While Aerosmith has unfortunately announced their retirement, they posted on X that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster had re-opened after being closed for a lengthy refurbishment. We think this update shows that Aerosmith still has a good working relationship with Disney, and a re-theme is unlikely for now.
It was rumored that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster would be replaced by a Monsters Inc. door coaster, and funny enough the attraction was finally confirmed earlier this month at D23. Although no location for this new land has been announced, it seems highly unlikely that the land would go where Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster currently is.
While Disney has a ton of new and exciting projects like the Magic Kingdom expansion including a Villains Land and Cars Land, as well as a Pueblo Esperanza, the Tropical Americas-themed land replacing DinoLand U.S.A., we think it is pretty safe to say that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is not going anywhere anytime soon.
Rest assured, if Disney were to ever announce a re-theme for Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster, we would make sure to keep you updated since you “Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing.” So as always keep following along with Disney Food Blog for more Disney news, updates, and tips!

I’ve always wanted a Phineas & Ferb “Rollercoaster: The Musical” overlay for the (kinda tired) Aerosmith theme. In fact, one time while riding it, I played the P&F Rollercoaster song on earbuds for my husband and myself, and it matched up almost perfectly!
