It’s MAC AND CHEESE time at the 2024 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival! We’re checking out the NEW Macatizers booth right now!
The EPCOT Food and Wine Festival runs through November 23rd this year! Throughout the festival, there are plenty of food booths, merchandise items, and concerts too. Come along with us to the Macatizers booth to find out if it’s a booth you need to add to your must-eat-here list!
Menu
Macatizers is all about mac and cheese — serving up four mac and cheese dishes that we’ve seen before at the Festival (most recently at the Mac and Eats booth), along with beers and wines which you can sample in the flights.
Now that we’ve taken a look at the menu, let’s EAT!
Eats
First up, we ordered the Traditional Macaroni and Cheese with herbed panko. This is available for $5.50. When this dish was available at other booths in the past, we found this dish to be fine but lacking in flavor. This time was much of the same with the cheese even tasting a little funky to us. It would be great for picky eaters but we’d opt for some of the more festive options at this booth.
Next up is the Cheesesteak Macaroni and Cheese with shaved beef, peppers and onions, and breadcrumbs. Get this for $6.50! This one REALLY wowed us. The shaved beef was so tender while the onions and peppers were soft without being mushy.
It’s pretty hearty as well which makes it a good value! The breadcrumbs added a nice crunch that helped break up the texture of the rest of the dish.
Truffle Mac and Cheese is also on the menu for $6.50. This was essentially the same as the traditional mac we tried, but instead of regular breadcrumbs, there were truffle breadcrumbs with shaved truffles on top as well. We were pleasantly surprised by this! The truffle was subtle but adds an interesting textural element — it’s not too overpowering which you sometimes find with truffle.
Last but not least, there’s a plant-based IMPOSSIBLE Chili Macaroni and Cheese with sour cream and cheddar. You can order this for $6.50. We enjoyed a version of this dish back in 2022! This year was the same — it’s really hearty and comforting, and if you didn’t already know it was IMPOSSIBLE chili it would be pretty hard to tell. The Fritos on top add a fun texture, too.
Drinks
The Macatizers drink menu is overflowing with beer and wine. But, when we stopped by the booth the kegs weren’t working. Normally, you can get these beers individually or in a flight: Crooked Can Brewing Company Vinifera Velvet Lager ($5.75/6oz, $9.75 12oz), Southern Tier Brewing Co Raspberry Shine Summer Wheat Ale ($5.75/6oz, $9.75 12oz), and Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company Kentucky Pumpkin Bourbon Barrel Ale ($5.75/6oz, $9.75 12oz).
There are SIX wines on the menu at Macatizers including the the St. Supéry Domaine de l’Ile Rosé ($8), Knights Bridge Sauvignon Blanc ($8), and Caymus 50th Anniversary Cabernet Sauvignon ($20). You can get these three in a flight for $14. We grabbed a wine flight that features Terrazas de los Andes Reserva Chardonnay ($6.50), Klinker Brick Bricks & Roses Rosé ($6.50), and Beringer Bros Bourbon Aged Cabernet Sauvignon ($6) for $8.
The Chardonnay was not too sweet and on the dry side, as was the Rosé. We were expecting the Cabernet Sauvignon to be a bit sweeter but it was bold and pretty dry as well.
OVERALL
We were really impressed with the Macatizers booth this year — it’s certainly a haven for macaroni and cheese fans with a little something for everybody. Hopefully, they’ll get the keg situation all worked out and we can bring you our review of the beers as well!
