Disney announced that the Tropical Americas will be coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom and we couldn’t be more hyped about it!
With the DinoLand, U.S.A. re-theme, we’ll be getting experiences inspired by both Encanto and Indiana Jones coming to the new land! Specifically focusing in on Encanto, there will be an attraction inside the Casita and we’ve got to talk about it!
Disney will be taking us all to the new town of Pueblo Esperanza in the Tropical Americas land which will take the place of DinoLand, U.S.A.
In this new town, we’ll not only find all sorts of beautiful biodiversity, but also the Casita straight from the film in all its glory!
The Casita is going to be the home for an all-new ride featuring the Madrigal family. Specifically, Disney has said that this ride takes place after, “Antonio has just received his special gift — the ability to communicate with animals — and his room has transformed into a rainforest. It’s time to go explore alongside him, and you never know what member of the family you might bump into…”
If that concept art is any indication, it’s possible that this new ride will be a trackless ride like a number of other attractions across the parks like Rise of the Resistance, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. Also, it appears that the ride vehicle could have four rows.
The ride looks like it will be a visual treat with its rainforest setting…
…and all the fantastical creatures that we’ll meet like these toucans and capybaras.
It might make more sense for Disney to use projection mapping to drop us right into Antonio’s bedroom world in Encanto as opposed to using traditional animatronics, which would make the ride a bit more like Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway over Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
Construction on this new land will begin this fall and is planned to open in 2027. We even got to see a 3-D model of the new ride at the D23 event. The model looks amazing! While we don’t get a look inside of the Casita, it still is extremely detailed and looks incredible!
I mean, just look at the details like the magic candle that can be seen in the Casita window if we zoom in. Will we be seeing the magic candle from the inside while we’re on the ride too?
Here’s what the Casita would look like at scale in Pueblo Esperanza. We can’t wait to see this and all the surrounding trees and plants.
Since we don’t have full details on how long this ride will be, let’s have a look at some examples of other trackless ride times in Disney World.
- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure — 5 minutes
- Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway — 7 minutes
- Rise of the Resistance — 20 minutes
We’re not saying that it’s going to be another whole production that lasts about 20 minutes, but it could be somewhere between that 5-7 minute mark just based on these examples.
If you couldn’t tell, we’re super excited to adventure in the Encanto world and get on this new ride! We’re going to be watching for more details, so keep following DFB for more all the latest!

I would bet it will be very similar in concept to Mystic Manor in HK Disneyland

I just returned from my trip and WDW has gone Encanto crazy it’s in every park. A ride or rides and show are fine but how about a south America version of Gorilla Falls and Maharaja trek with animals from that region, it is called Animal Kingdom.

Hopefully this ride will actually be handicap friendly, wheelchair accessible, i.e. the Ratatouille accessible vehicle or It’s a Small World accessible boat, The transfer devices that are available are a joke, they only fit either very small adults or children. I love WDW but they aren’t up to par on this item.

I personally hope that it is animal based and Antonio is the perfect leader for us. I have a feeling it will be a world of color and sound, like the rooms in the Casita. It should be fun.

I’m not excited. It just doesn’t belong in Animal Kingdom. Disney can spin it every which way they want, Encanto and Indiana Jones DO NOT belong in Animal Kingdom, which is Asia and Africa – NOT South America or Tropical America. It’s ridiculous! And what about all the animals that live in Animal Kingdom, what’s going to happen to them while Disney is tearing apart Dinoland and rebuilding it? And what about Restaurantosaurus? Will they close it during construction? And will they open it as a South American or Mexican or Tex-Mex or Southwestern or Spanish restaurant? You know what that will mean? There will be no place in Animal Kingdom that I will be able to eat a meal! I’ll have to leave AK and go to a Resort or another Park. That would be a pain in the neck. As a result, I probably won’t go to AK. Yep those Imagineers have no imagination at all.

Would rather they did Coco they could have made a ride similar to ET where you ride on the spirit animals thru the afterlife would be cool starting at graveyard

Lloyd, I believe from what I have heard from cast members is that it will have Tropical Americas animals in pathways. I think that the hesitation about talking about this is the intense negotiations that go on around animal conservation and sourcing species and transporting them. Disney does not catch in the wild, they are part of species survival groups.
I can’t believe there won’t be a capybara somewhere in the land and other wonderful animals that Antonio was “friends” with.

The initial concept is fine. The trouble is that expanding the Encanto theme for other rides would need to be animal themed. This sadly misses the entire theme of Encanto.
