Okay, we’re all pretty much here because we love all things Disney, right? Well, that and we REALLY love Disney food, but that’s beside the point (it’s a given being that our middle name is “food”).
However, Disney has still shocked us occasionally with things that we might still be wrapping our heads around. For example, we’re still a little upset that some BIG parts of the EPCOT transformation never came to be (it looks like we’ll never get that Mary Poppins ride or the Play! Pavilion). We’re also still trying to come to terms with losing Dinoland, U.S.A. in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, although we’re also excited about what’s to come. However, there are some scandals that have almost slipped our minds, and we wanted to remind you of those…just for fun.
So let’s get cringey together and talk about those Disney scandals you almost forgot about. ALMOST.
Plant Donald
Okay, we’ll admit that this is one scandal we NEVER forgot about because it was just bizarre. So you know on the part of Gran Fiesta Tour ride in the Mexico Pavilion in EPCOT where you see the animatronic figures of The Three Caballeros? Well, at one point, the Donald animatronic was removed and replaced with a plant. Like people wouldn’t notice that! A PLANT!
Eventually, all three animatronics were replaced with cardboard replicas until the animatronics returned (and thank goodness for that), but the plant thing still leaves us scratching our heads. Who came up with THAT idea?

The case of the missing girl on Carousel of Progress
In the opening of Carousel of Progress in Magic Kingdom, the scene shows a mother ironing and there’s a small girl with blonde pigtails nearby with a spinning wheel. When you see it, you just assume this is one of the children of the family throughout the ride. We know that the parents also have a teenage daughter and a son, so is this a younger daughter? But the thing is…we see the other two kids throughout the ride, but that young girl? She just disappears and we never see her again.
So who is she? Why is she only in the one scene? Did she have a mishap and end up going to the great animatronic factory in the sky? Was she just a neighbor kid helping with the chores? We may never know, but a lot of Disney fans have noticed this — and we have questions!

Stitch TP-ing Cinderella Castle
Imagine the day to visit Magic Kingdom has finally arrived, and maybe it’s even the last day of your trip (because you save the best park for last). You giddily start to walk up Main Street, U.S.A. to see that Cinderella Castle has been DESTROYED. Okay, not quite destroyed, but it’s covered in toilet paper and graffiti. Well, that really happened.
Back in 2004, Stitch TP-ed and wrote graffiti on Cinderella Castle in honor of his new ride, Stitch’s Great Escape, opening. The prank only lasted for a day, but imagine how many families had their castle photos ruined by Experiment 626.

Festival of Fantasy’s Maleficent catches fire
So Disney has a fire-breathing dragon problem. Now, most of you remember the stories that came out when the Maleficent dragon caught fire in the Disneyland version of Fantasmic! It was so bad that the dragon still didn’t return to the show even when it reopened! Well, before that, Maleficent had a similar mishap during the Festival of Fantasy parade: yep, she caught fire in 2018.
The good news is that Disney fixed the issue and you can see Maleficent in all her fire-breathing glory during the Festival of Fantasy parade in Magic Kingdom.

Harmonious barges
We’re pretty sure we’ve just blocked this from our memory, but during Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration, EPCOT debuted a new show called Harmonious, which brought out some unsightly barges onto the World Showcase Lagoon…that stayed OUT there even during the day. There was also this Stargate-looking contraption, and most Disney fans who saw it pretty much considered it an eyesore.
When the 50th Anniversary Celebration ended, many fans cheered when they saw the barges being removed from the lagoon. With its next EPCOT show, Luminous The Symphony of Us, Disney seems to have learned its lesson: there are no obstacles in World Showcase Lagoon now.

We will never go back to wdw why? On our last trip we waited for three hours to board avatar ride why? Because they let every fast pass holder go on. We can’t afford fast pass. Disney has gotten so greedy remember when fast pass was free disney only wants rich people thanx Charlie O

Carousel Of Progress is moving through time. That would infer that the little girl becomes the teen daughter with the costume and then the older blonde haired woman sitting by the Christmas tree in the end. At least that is the way I always looked at it.
