A LOT is happening over in Disneyland, and yes, that means there’s a LOT of construction.
First, Haunted Mansion is getting a brand-new queue and shop, and although the ride is currently open as Haunted Mansion Holiday, construction around it is ongoing. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is getting closer to its November opening date. Critter Country will be renamed Bayou Country and will be getting a re-themed restaurant, Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree. Well, we just visited Disneyland recently to check out all the progress on these projects, and they are really coming right along!
First thing we noticed when we visited New Orleans Square is that the frame for the new Haunted Mansion gift shop has gone up! Okay, this is exciting! We’re imagining this shop will be similar to Memento Mori, the Haunted Mansion gift shop in Disney World.
We also walked over to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure to see how construction was going. The area around here has finally reopened after being closed for a little while. We didn’t see a lot of changes in the construction of the ride itself, but we did notice some new Mardi Gras posters on the construction walls.
We had to share this photo because Tigger photobombed our construction progress photos of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Silly Tigger! 😂
Even more exciting, though, is that we saw the new sign for the upcoming Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree. We can’t wait to try the tasty BBQ-inspired foods here! We’ve been missing BBQ in Disneyland since Big Thunder Ranch BBQ closed in 2016.
We also managed to get a peek at the Ursus H. Bear mural at the restaurant — he’s visible from the Mark Twain Riverboat and Tom Sawyer’s Island. In case you didn’t know, Ursus is the founder of Grizzly Hall, where the Country Bear Jamboree is performed (the show closed in Disneyland in 2001 to make way for The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, but you can see a newly revamped version of it in Disney World).
As you can see, things are coming along in what will soon be Bayou Country in Disneyland. We’re excited for all these changes, not to mention those that are yet to come, like the new Avatar land and Coco ride coming to California Adventure.
