You know, before too long, we’re actually going to be getting a whole Cars Land in Magic Kingdom!!
Now that we’ve had a bit of time to breathe since the D23 2024: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event and the announcement of the new Cars Land, we wanted to do a deep dive into the concept art and see if we could glean some info about the new rides that’ll be coming to Disney World!
As we were saying, Disney shared their concept art for the new Cars Land which will be replacing Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America in Frontierland at Magic Kingdom. At the moment, there hasn’t been an official timeline for when the Cars expansion will open, but Disney already confirmed that work on the area will begin in early 2025. Also, we saw that the first permits were filed in August 2024 to start the process.
We did get the news that this new land will bring with it two NEW Cars attractions! For the first attraction, we’re going to race through the mountains on wild terrain along mountain trails as we dodge geysers and splash through mud holes. The second ride will be geared toward “smaller racers” and will be fun for the whole family! Now, let’s have a closer look at some of the concept art for the new land and see what we can learn about the new rides!
First things first, by our best guess, these two areas would appear to be the two different rides. We’ll dub the red circled space as the more “intense” ride and the yellow space as the “family friendly” one.
Starting with the more intense of the two, here’s what the ride path could potentially be. The circle is indicating the “Start” banner.
Shortly after the takeoff, it looks like we’ll be entering some kind of a cave system for a bit before turning back and heading onwards.
Now, the ride sounds like it will be quite immersive, which has us wondering if when we head to this mountain area, will we be experiencing some atmospheric elements like fog, snow, and the like?
In yellow, it looks like all the cars are lined up at the starting line, which indicates to us that the red circled building must be the show building where we’ll queue up and load/unload from the ride.
Now, moving on to the more “family-friendly” ride at the “top” of the concept art, this was a bit more difficult trying to figure out the potential path for the ride, but here’s a best guess.
This particular building where we can see Lightning and Tow Mater, looks to be the same area as in other concept art.
Here’s that other art, for reference:
It’s probably safe to assume that for both attractions, the ride vehicles will be on some sort of track like what we have at the Tomorrowland Speedway.
If that’s the case, I wonder how “exhilarating” these rides will be when thinking about the speed and maneuverability.
Back to the concept art for the Cars Land. It would appear that the only entrance into the land and way to get to the attractions would be through the new walkway on the “right-side” of the concept art.
If we had to guess what this area was, it’s that it is where the restaurant and shops would be located.
Well, that’s all we’ve got for you at the moment, and now we’d like to hear from you on what you’re looking forward to with these new rides!
As always, stay tuned to Disney Food Blog, where we will continue to monitor any news about the construction of Cars Land.

There is no reason to take away the beautiful, picturesque Liberty Belle and Rivers of America for this stupid ride. They could have put this where the Speedway is in tomorrow land and left our beautiful Frontier town and Liberty Square alone. But they preferred to turn a deaf ear on what people wanted and I think this will end Disney World. They are going to take a major dive having changed what has been historic for so many years and the reason why so many people visited year after year, including me. But this will be the last visit. I tolerated the high prices, the Florida heat, the crowds of people to be where I was happy. There are too many other beautiful parks, much closer that are not nearly as expensive and will offer about the same thing as Disney now. Disney is no longer the special, magic place it was, with it’s themed rides, and beautiful memories. They might as well change the name to Woke World. I’m sorry Walt….we loved it while it lasted but they destroyed it. 🙁

I still don’t know what Disney is thinking. Frontier land from what I have read was special to Walt himself. Now you are getting rid of any semblance to a frontier land setting in the Magic Kingdom. I am DVC and I would rather have the shooting gallery back, and yes, I will use the DVC lounge but that does not mean I want the shooting gallery gone.
Disney is converting Frontier Land into a concrete jungle.

If the rides are like the Radiator Springs racing cars attraction, I am going to love it. So will everyone else.

Does anyone else think that the “family friendly” ride will replace Tomorrow Lamd Speedway? I have a feeling that it will and the new Monster’s Inc. Land at Hollywood Studios will have a Laugh Floor which will result in a re-theme of a a big portion of Tomorrrow Land with a few new Incredibles rides/attractions in Tomorrow Land. The Incredibles and the architecture in their movies should fit in. I can’t wait to see.

The larger ride is rumored to be a new trackless system, a cross between Rise of Resistance and Radiator Springs with a little Indiana Jones thrown in. It sounds intriguing, but personally I will miss the beautiful river area. I understand Disney’s bottom line – to bring new experiences while keeping expenses down – but I think they bring the overall experience down when they remake one ride/area into another one. I think new attractions should be just that – new! – not at the cost of losing other attractions.
