What if we told you that there was a way to get stellar Disney entertainment — we’re talking lights, sounds, music, and more — without having to travel all the way to Disney World to do it?!
Well, friends, you’re in luck because such a thing exists — and it’s called Disney On Ice! These exciting and lively shows combine your favorite Disney characters, stories, and songs with incredible ice skating and dancing, acrobatics, and more. We recently got the chance to see the brand-new show, Disney On Ice presents Let’s Dance and get a backstage look at just how the magic is made — so let’s check it out!
We were invited to check out the brand new Disney On Ice presents Let’s Dance! by Feld Entertainment, the company behind the incredible Disney On Ice productions you know and love. Let’s Dance! features Mickey and his pals as they rock the DJ table, remixing your favorite Disney songs into “colorful worlds.”
Audiences get to become part of each story as it unfolds with live hosts, up-close character interaction, surprise moments, and lots of audience participation in the form of dancing! This new show puts Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy in the DJ booth to spin some tunes and features scenes from Wish, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Frozen 2, and Moana.
We got the chance to see some of the action behind the scenes — including hearing the show’s director, Adam Loosely, give a bit of insight as to how it all works along with an incredible demonstration of a skater, Masaki Kondo, on the sway pole! The show is inspired by EDM music festivals and it really shows.

Choreographer Adam Blake showed us a few numbers with the help of some skaters from the show before we got to see the real thing live. It was so incredible to see how the skaters moved with each other and just glided around the ice.
Music Director Scott Sena and Sophie Sananikone a.k.a. DJ Freeze told us all about how they took classic Disney songs and remixed them into lively, club beats that kiddos and adults alike will enjoy.
DJ Freeze gets the party going with some fun remixes of your favorite Disney songs to bring the energy up before the show, and then the show officially begins! There are around 40 performers in the production and 42 different Disney characters are featured in the show as well.

Those characters have to wear costumes — and there are over 250 of them on this show, plus 1200 costume pieces. There are hundreds of thousands of Swarovski crystals throughout all of the costumes as well!
The dynamic and high-energy performances feature cutting-edge figure skating choreography, aerial stunts, acrobatics, adagio pair skating, and plenty of ramp tricks on the ice.
