Disney World will be busy getting new updates as work begins on the new Villains Land, Cars attractions, Tropical Americas Land, and Monsters, Inc. Land.

Over the next few years, once construction begins on these new areas, we will likely see lots of walls and shrubs up around Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Magic Kingdom. However, the earliest construction is set to begin on these new additions is later this fall, so we were quite surprised to see such a large area covered by construction walls and shrubs in Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios the other day!
Woody’s Lunch Box is a quick-service restaurant that serves fun meals such as Lunch Box Tarts, Breakfast Bowls, a BBQ Brisket Melt, and “Totchos.” It’s located across from Alien Swirling Saucers and usually offers an outdoor seating area.

However, when we recently stopped by, the outdoor seating area was DEMOLISHED!

There are now bushes and walls up around what used to be the seating area for Woody’s Lunch Box, and you can see that the area is no longer there. It’s just a dirt area now.

While we don’t know what the reason is for the demolition, we did notice a temporary seating area set up behind the restaurant in the walk way leading to Galaxy’s Edge.

Since this area is in Toy Story Land, it unlikely it has anything to do with the construction of the new Monsters, Inc. Land coming to Hollywood Studios. Disney may have decided to update the seating area or add something new here. We’ll just have to wait to find out what’s coming!

In the meantime, be sure to stop by Woody’s Lunch Box for a tasty breakfast, lunch, or dinner! Remember that temporary seating has been set up in Galaxy’s Edge, so you can still sit down to enjoy your food. We’ll be watching for more updates on this new construction site.

That is a surprise and a real shame. The area is not that old, and there is so little seating in that part of the park to begin with. I’m guessing that they must have needed to get to something underground in order to do maintenance or make the changes that are planned. Although, that area is near one of the entrances to Toy Story land, and there is a fair amount of ‘open space’ (probably not unused, though) off othat area on on the map. It seems more likely, keeping with other developments, that something will be demolished in order to bring in Monsters land, BUT – Monsters would fit better next to Toy Story land than stuffed in between Star Tours and Galaxy’s Edge where the Muppets are now. There could be a dedicated entrance across from Star Tours. And that way we wouldn’t have to lose something for a change in an ‘expansion.’ I don’t really believe that’s going to happen, but it’s fun to speculate 🙂

I suspect that since most people who sat in that area were not customers of Woody’s Lunchbox, there had been tension with people who were customers who want to sit down to eat. They’re probably going to install stand-up only eating tables to keep more fights from breaking out.
Yeah, as others have said Toy Story Land already has the worst seating and shade options of just about anywhere in HS. Disney really needs to prioritize seating and cooling; it’s only going to get worse there.
I’m with the previous comments. Hopefully it’s a lot more seating. It was ridiculous that you walk around with a trey of food and people are just hanging out at the tables with no sign that they were eating at all.
I would just stand by a table with these people and eat. So rude. This was always first thing in the morning for breakfast.
Eat and leave. Find somewhere else to lounge.
It’s a problem all over the parks but more annoying when there is limited seating.

More seating ? Two stories with AC ? That would be nice. Hopefully it’s not more metal sun absorbing benches/seating that no one wants to sit at because they are always in the sun.
I agree. The seating around Woody’s lunchbox needs to be improved. Also there needs to be some way of making the tables only available to those who are eating. We’ve basically stopped eating there because it’s so annoying to walk around with your food with people just sitting at the tables but not eating.
