Is there any place where a foodie feels more at home than at EPCOT??
Now when it comes to your dining experience, Disney usually leads the way to accommodate for all types of food allergies, which makes it incredibly easy to recommend just about any restaurant for people dealing with a particular allergy. That being said, there is this one EPCOT restaurant that absolutely CANNOT accommodate this one specific food allergy, so let’s talk about it!
As we were saying, if you’re someone who’s all about EPCOT’s food scene, chances are high that you’ve probably heard of Takumi-Tei. This signature dining restaurant in the Japan Pavilion is known for its gorgeous interior, authentic dishes, and top-notch service. However, if you’re dealing with a corn syrup allergy, I’ve got some bad news: Takumi-Tei is not the place for you.
So, here’s the deal. While most Disney restaurants go above and beyond to accommodate food allergies (seriously, they’re incredible that way), Takumi-Tei has a specific ingredient that makes this a no-go if you’re allergic to corn syrup: Mirin. For those unfamiliar, mirin is a sweet rice wine used in a lot of Japanese cooking, and here’s the kicker, it contains corn syrup.
Now, Takumi-Tei is upfront about this in its allergy policy. If you inquire about dining there with a corn syrup allergy, they’ll tell you, “Unfortunately we do use mirin as a part of the authentic Japanese cooking which contains corn syrup. Therefore, if you have a serious corn syrup allergy we will not be able to assist you.”
So, even though they’d love to welcome everyone, the use of mirin is a non-negotiable part of their cooking style. If corn syrup is a problem for you, it’s probably best to sit this one out and explore some of the other allergy-friendly options EPCOT has to offer.
Now, we ate all that Takumi-Tei had to offer, so if you want to check out our review, check out our link below. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.

Disney does their best with food allergies and but some things cannot be substituted. I am severely allergic to white potatoes. Odd but true. Rise and Crown only has three enters and all are heavy on potatoes. We just don’t eat there. When you have allergies you just have accept every place cannnot work around it.
