OK, it’s time to confess. Who here prefers to sleep with icy cold central air? Who blasts the A.C. in their hotel room? Don’t worry — this is a safe space. We won’t judge you, no matter the temperature you may set your thermostat. When staying in a Central Florida hotel, you need a room with good working air conditioning; it can get HOT outside.
Well, if you prefer to sleep with the air conditioning on full blast, you may need to listen up. Disney just shared an important announcement about a temporary outage at Disney’s Port Orleans — Riverside Resort. Let’s talk about it!
During a recent visit to Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort (this hotel’s jambalaya still slaps, by the way), we noticed an important warning in the hotel lobby. First, let us all take a moment to appreciate this warm, delicious meal. YUM.
OK, back to the news. Disney announced that on Friday, September 20th, Port Orleans — Riverside Resort will undergo a scheduled power outage. The outage will happen between 1:30AM and 5AM (so hopefully, most people will sleep right through it!).
Disney explained that outage is due to some necessary work that will affect electrical power around the resort. Cast Members can help if you need more information!
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen this type of announcement; temporary power outages happen from time to time at the various resorts around Disney World. Disney tries to limit the amount of time that rooms are without power, which is good news for any cold foods or drinks you may be keeping in the fridge.

A planned outage is way better than random

We love POR, and I was SO SCARED your announcement was that the Royal Guest Rooms or firework headboards were going away. Our favorite ‘hotel,’ which I’ve said way too much about, is actually the Cabins at Fort Wilderness. TBD if we will ever be able to afford to stay there again, but that’s been our go-to spot for several years now. But POR is a close second. We love Boatwright’s, we love the lounge and the entertainment there, we love how pretty it is, we love it all. A lot of people point out the Deluxe feels for Moderate dollars at Coronado Springs, but POR is pretty good for that too.
