Pour one out for DinoLand, U.S.A.
We don’t know when our final stroll through this roadside carnival-themed land will be, but we know that it will be too soon no matter what. That’s right, DinoLand is being replaced by a new Tropical Americas land, and while we’re thrilled to have new rides, restaurants, and more, it does mean we’ll have to say goodbye to DinoLand — and three Disney World restaurants.
DinoLand, U.S.A. at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is about to change in a major way — as in, it will no longer exist. Instead, a new Tropical Americas land featuring Encanto and Indiana Jones will take its place. Not only does this mean we’ll be losing two attractions, but it means we’ll also have to say goodbye to three restaurants in this section.
Restaurantosaurus is a quick service spot that serves up your typical theme park fare like burgers, salads, and chicken nuggets, but it’s a great option for a bite to eat on this side of the park. What really makes Restaurantosaurus unique is its theming and backstory, though!
The story goes that paleontology students turned their home base into a restaurant — with the help of Chester and Hester, who run DinoLand — once they were done using it, and now you get to peruse all the cool props and equipment (including lots of sight gags and punny humor) while you eat. There are so many different props and cool references that make this spot a hit for many.
We’ll also have to say goodbye to Trilo-Bites, a cute little snack stand that serves up those delicious Buffalo Chicken Chips we love so much. They’re made with kettle chips, buffalo chicken, blue cheese crumbles, and sauce — and they are a seriously underrated snack! You can also find ice cream and milkshakes over here
And, of course, there’s also Dino-Bite Snacks. This diner-inspired kiosk features ice cream, cookies, churros, and cold drinks. There’s nothing particularly unique about this spot — aside from the occasional seasonal ice cream sandwich — but we’ll still miss it all the same.
While we still may not know when we’ll have to say goodbye to DinoLand, we know it will still be too soon. We’ll be on the lookout for any potential updates, so make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog if you don’t want to miss a thing!

Personally I wish they’d bring back the bag lunches where you picked what you wanted from the cooler and they put it in a nice reusable bag for a single price. Plus there were tables all around the park to sit and enjoy your lunch.
Oh well we can stop at a fast food place on the way there and get all that cheaper and enjoy it when we get there.

My grandkids love the Boneyard. It is our understanding that that will stay, just be refurbished.. is this right?

Restaurantosaurus – I love that restaurant! So very sad it’s going away. Where are we going to eat? My daughter and I are picky eaters and don’t like BBQ or anything spicy. So we always eat at Restaurantosaurus. Guess we’ll have to go back to our resort to have lunch, or to another Park. Sad, indeed.

When will it actually close the walkways to Dinoland… anyone…?

Those buffalo chicken chips are my favorite thing at Animal Kingdom. I hope they just give them a new home somewhere else!

Restaurantosaurus was so charming, the theming was so delightful and detailed. We discovered it way too late, and we were only able to visit a few times. We loved Walt’s chili dogs and so much that may be ‘typical theme park fare,’ but you could only get there in AK (as far as we ever knew). If the new QS restaurant in this area is Encanto themed, then I’m guessing a lot that was beloved on the Restaurantosaurus menu will not be featured. At least we knew to grab lots of photos the last time we were there.

Too bad Disney can’t or won’t move these restaurants somewhere else in wdw…..
