It’s almost October in Disney World, and that means we can all celebrate as it drops a few degrees in temperature!
It also means that the month of Halloween will officially arrive, even though Disney World has been celebrating since August. We can’t wait for next month to hit, but for those of you taking a trip next month, there are a few things you need to know about before you step into the parks. Namely, some mistakes we don’t want you to make!
Going to Magic Kingdom on a Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Night
While going to Magic Kingdom on a party night can be great, since it means lower crowds typically during the day, it’s NOT fun if you planned your day not knowing it, because it means the park closes at 6PM.
If a party night is your only day in Magic Kingdom, it means you won’t get to see the Happily Ever After fireworks, ride any attraction when it’s dark, or get to spend a TRUE full day in Magic Kingdom since you’ll be cutting it about 3 hours short. Again, if you’ve planned it this way so you can experience lower crowds and have chosen to just cram it all into a shorter day, that’s great! But don’t be caught off guard — check those party dates ahead of time.
Here’s everything you need to know about Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!
Not Expecting The Larger Crowds at EPCOT and Hollywood Studios AFTER Magic Kingdom Closes
Speaking of party nights, since it’s a really big draw for families in the month of October, you’ll also want to be aware of the larger crowds that are going to descend upon EPCOT and Hollywood Studios when Magic Kingdom closes at 6PM for regular guests.
Many guests won’t be ready to call it a night just yet, so if they’ve got a park hopper ticket, they’ll head over to one of the parks that are still open to let the fun continue. This means that if you’ve been in EPCOT or Hollywood Studios all day, you’ll want to ride those big attractions on party nights EARLIER than 6PM just to play it safe. Or else, it’s likely you’ll see those wait times jump back up again.Â

Thinking You Can Buy Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Tickets At The Gate/On The Same Day
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a MASSIVE event in Disney World each year. Many families/ Disney World fans come down JUST for the party, or travel at this time of year so they can buy tickets and experience it. This means though that tickets often sell out WEEKS in advance for many party dates, so buying them on the day of the event is very rare.
We’ve seen it happen before, yes, but more often times than not, you’ll walk up to Magic Kingdom and see a sign that says tickets are all sold out for that evening. So PLEASE don’t make the mistake of not grabbing them weeks in advance just because you think they’ll be available the day of! We’re so sorry to say this, but you’ll be in for a world of disappointment.

Planning on Riding Test Track
A lot of construction is planned for Disney World in the coming months, but a lot of it won’t really begin until next year. However, over in EPCOT, one ride has been closed for months to prepare for a massive transformation coming in 2025. That’s right — Test Track won’t be available on your October must-do list.
Test Track is currently undergoing a major retheme/transformation that will bring it back closer to its original version, World of Motion. We aren’t entirely sure what this will look like just yet, but from Disney’s concept art, we’re looking forward to it!
