These days, if you’re heading to Disney World, you should probably be prepared to use your phone a LOT.
From booking Lightning Lanes to making dining reservations to Mobile Ordering food and checking wait times, there are SO many tasks you’ll do on the My Disney Experience app each day of your trip. However, the app doesn’t always work as intended! Technology can be finicky, and this morning, many people are having some big vacation planning problems.
UPDATE: Disney’s systems seem to have returned to normal as of 12:12PM ET.
This morning we got a warning message on the My Disney Experience app letting us know that some payment options are currently unavailable. At this time, PayPal is the only thing available in “select flows.” Disney notes that it is actively working to solve the issue.
Related to this problem, we noticed that several options were unavailable on the app. We had problems attempting to book Lightning Lanes since they require a form of payment, and when we went to book dining reservations, we got an error message.
After noticing the problem for Disney World, we also checked the Disneyland Resort app. The same problem is happening on the West Coast!
So basically, if you’re trying to use the My Disney Experience or Disneyland apps today, you may have issues with anything that requires payment or a card to secure your booking. We’ll keep an eye on the glitch and update you when things are resolved, but until then, you may notice modified procedures in the parks.
UPDATE: One of our team members was attempting to book Lightning Lanes for their upcoming vacation and was told that Guest Relations could not help them with those bookings. So if you’re attempting to book your Lightning Lanes, you’ll have to wait until the system is fixed.
Also, the Disney Store website has been updated with a warning about this payment issue as well. It looks like it’s affecting more than just the parks! PayPal is still available as a payment option, but cards cannot be processed for online shopping purchases.

Well it sounds like it’s a good idea to add Paypal to our payment methods on the Disney app before our next trip!
