It’s hurricane season in Central Florida, and we’ve been keeping a close eye on a major storm.
Hurricane Helene is heading for Florida, set to hit the coast on Thursday evening. However, if you’re currently vacationing in Disney World, it will likely impact your trip as well. Especially because Disney has now canceled a special event.
Disney announced that Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is canceled for Thursday, September 26th due to Hurricane Helene. The storm is projected to bring heavy wind and rains, and those conditions impact entertainment offerings during the party.
If you had already purchased a ticket to the sold-out party, your account will be refunded. Since it was a party evening, Magic Kingdom was originally scheduled to close to regular day guests at 6PM, but now the park will be open until 8PM (barring any other weather-related changes). At this time, no park hour changes have been announced for the three other theme parks.
Disney announced earlier in the day that Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and the miniature golf courses will be closed on Thursday, September 26th as well. Also, the following tours at Animal Kingdom will be unavailable on that day:
- Savor the Savanna
- Up Close with Rhinos
- Walking with Giants
- Wild Africa Trek
At this time, everything else is scheduled to operate under normal conditions, but Disney World is updating the weather warnings page on its website as-needed. We’ll make sure to keep you in the loop with any news!
