There’s a hurricane heading for Florida, and we’re covering all the updates for Disney World.
The storm is expected to make landfall on Florida’s coast this evening, but in the meantime, we’re getting rain bands in Central Florida and heavy winds. Disney already decided to cancel Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party for tonight and the water parks and miniature golf courses are closed, but now one offering has been REMOVED from the list of things that were canceled.

Previously, the Disney World website’s weather page had noted that backstage tours at Animal Kingdom were canceled for Thursday, September 26th. However, now that warning has been removed.
The previously canceled tours included Savor the Savanna, Up Close with Rhinos, Walking with Giants, and the Wild Africa Trek. Now, it seems as though those tours will operate as usual. If you’re booked for one of those tours today, you can call Disney directly or use the chat feature on the website to answer any detailed questions.
As we mentioned above, the Halloween party remains canceled, and Typhoon Lagoon, Winter Summerland Mini Golf, and Fantasia Gardens Mini Golf are all still closed for the day. Magic Kingdom’s operating hours were changed from a 6PM closure to an 8PM closure.
So far today, we’ve seen several rain bands roll through Disney World, and the winds are fairly strong. We’ve also noticed storm preparations around the park. These typically include things like tying down umbrellas and fastening loose items to lampposts.

As it currently stands, the Disney World area is under a tornado watch as well. So if you’re out and about in Central Florida, you’ll want to keep a close eye on your weather apps and make sure you’re exercising caution.
We’ll continue to monitor the weather conditions and let you know if Disney World cancels any other offerings this week. Stay tuned to DFB!
