A hurricane is heading for Florida, and we’re bringing all the updates from Disney World.
So far, we’ve seen Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party get canceled, and Disney has closed its water parks and miniature golf courses. But outside of those changes, the theme parks are still operating as usual! We’re in the parks today to report on the weather and the storm prep, so let’s see what it’s like to go to Disney World before a hurricane.
STORM UPDATES

We started out on the morning of Thursday, September 26th at Magic Kingdom. It was cloudy when we arrived, but it didn’t start raining heavily until later in the morning.
The crowds in the parks were quite low, as many people likely avoided heading to Magic Kingdom on a day when it’s scheduled to rain and storm. Wait times were also fairly low, with most of the attractions staying below an hour for the whole day.
You could even grab Starbucks without waiting too long — that’s practically an anomaly!
Later in the morning, a band of rain came through and things got REAL wet for a bit there. The walkways cleared out quickly and some lower areas of the park experienced flooding. Today’s a good day to have those ponchos and shoe covers on hand.
The crowds definitely dispersed during that little while when it was storming. Check out this view from the castle hub!
But not too long after that, things calmed down a bit. It stayed cloudy, but the storm stopped for long enough that outdoor rides were able to reopen. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in a poncho, anyone?
After Magic Kingdom, we headed over to Hollywood Studios for the afternoon. When we arrived, it was pretty cloudy, but some blue skies were visible.
The crowds here seemed to be a little bit heavier than Magic Kingdom. This may be due to the fact that it was originally scheduled to be a party day at Magic Kingdom before its park hours were changed to be open until 8PM.
As far as storm prep goes, we’ve seen some umbrellas tied down and some loose items fastened in place. Wind and rain will likely continue throughout the day and into tonight. The storm is expected to make landfall tonight, and as it stands, the Disney World parks are expected to be open as usual tomorrow. We’ll update you if we notice any more changes!
