What’s the cheapest way to fly?
It’s no secret that a trip to Orlando’s tourist destinations can be an expensive proposition. Whether heading to Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, or one of the area’s other tourist destinations, many travelers do their best to save wherever they can. Which in turn means that anyone who’s flying into Orlando will likely be looking for the cheapest possible flight. After digging into some research, we think these two airlines often have the cheapest flights to Orlando.
NOTE: These are based on averages from some of America’s busiest airports. There’s always a chance a different airline may have individual cheaper deals from specific cities at a given time.
In looking at flights from the New York City area’s three airports (JFK, Laguardia, and Newark), Chicago’s O’Hare, and Los Angeles’ LAX, the two airlines that were consistently giving us the cheapest offerings were – – perhaps unsurprisingly – – Frontier Airlines and Spirit Airlines.
Many travelers have issues with both of these carriers, but there’s no denying that they each offer some of the cheapest roundtrip flights possible in the U.S.
Spirit Airlines has been operating under its current name since 1992, and has arguably become the definitive ultra-low-cost airline in the country. According to Spirit, their mission statement is “To be the world’s most loved, most efficient, and most profitable airline.”
Meanwhile, Frontier Airlines was founded in 1994, and has steadily grown in the three decades since. According to the airline, their goal is to give every passenger “a travel experience that is unique to you. It’s our mission to make that experience easy, affordable and enjoyable.”
If you’re planning on flying to Orlando anytime soon and looking to do so as economically as possible, check out Spirit and Frontier first. Stay tuned to DFB for further travel updates.

My thing with these prices is that it doesn’t include a checked bag or a carry-on. With disney being a week-long destination for a lot of people it’s basically a guarantee that people would have to factor that in. I know I’m extremely lucky that out of houston I have 2 hubs, so I can get flights through United and Southwest and pay even less than those prices. I just bought my flights last week (doing 1st part with SW, return flight with united) for $120 roundtrip! And it’s nonstop. Going in less than 6 weeks. Not paying extra for bags or carry-on. Frontier and spirit would’ve easily cost me $200+. I would gladly give spirit a chance(never flown them) but theyve never been my cheapest option to anywhere
(And yes I did read the “note” part, this isnt me being ignorant to their disclaimer of it being dependent on airports and such lol)

We fly Southwest. In the long run for us it usually works out cheaper. By the time you
pay for luggage on the other companies its higher than Southwest where our bags are
free.
