We all know how magical a trip to Disney World is, right?
Between all the rides, entertainment, and all the food, I mean, it’s hard to pinpoint one thing we like more than the rest. That being said, not everything is perfectly magical. In fact, if we’re honest, there have been some, shall we say, uncomfortable problems we’ve experienced. That all got us thinking about some of the uncomfortable problems that you’ve gone through at Disney World, so we reached out to you to get your thoughts. Well, we asked and you delivered!
We reached out to our followers on Facebook to ask: “What’s a WILDLY uncomfortable problem you’ve had to deal with in Disney World?” We had quite a few people leave their opinions in the comments!
Now, let’s dive into some of your responses!
The Surprise Elbow Lick
First up, we’re starting with one of the most unique moments at Disney World we’ve heard. DFB reader Shay shared, “My special needs daughter licked the man in front of us on his elbow. I have no idea what was going through her brain. It was a long wet lick. 😂”
Now, this is definitely a moment that no one could predict, right? Imagine you’re just standing in line for a ride, minding your own business, and out of nowhere, someone’s child decides your elbow needs a good ol’ lick. We’re not sure what the man’s reaction was, but let’s hope he was at least a little understanding. And hey, maybe she just wanted to add a little flavor to the Disney World experience.
The Midnight Fight
Next up, there’s nothing quite like a peaceful stay at a Disney resort, right? Well, Paula had quite an experience.
She shared, “About 11 pm one night, my daughter came into our room to say the people in the room next door were fighting. I came into her room (we were in the Riveira) and it got worse. The screaming continued, I called the front desk and explained everything. The girl was running down the hallway, he was chasing her, they went into their room again. The screaming continued. I am sure others called too. Then about 5 sheriffs and regular police. They knocked on our door and spoke to us. It literally went on for 3 hours. Very unsettling.”
Wow! What should’ve been a peaceful evening quickly turned into an unsettling (and slightly terrifying) memory. Here’s hoping your next Disney hotel stay is drama-free!
A Case of Mistaken Identity (And a Sleeping Baby)
Next, Amanda had quite the fireworks experience. Let’s just say it wasn’t the good kind. She shared, “Some lady abandoned her sleeping baby next to me during fireworks. She thought I was her sister!”
Ok, so the fireworks at Disney World are magical, but being left in charge of someone else’s baby? Not so much. Amanda stood there praying the baby wouldn’t wake up, all while trying to enjoy the show. To make things weirder, the lady returned laughing, apparently confused, because, surprise! She wasn’t Amanda’s sister. This is one situation where you really want to double-check your impromptu baby-sitter.
The Main Street Roadblock
Next up, we all know just how intense Disney World crowds can be, but Victoria had an extra tough time navigating them. She shared, “Entire parties stopping in the middle of a walkway, especially on main street. As someone who had to be in a wheelchair, I can’t just step off the curb, and people looked at me like I was crazy when I asked them to please step to the side 🤣 I’m not crazy, just disabled.”
We feel you, Victoria. Main Street U.S.A. is beautiful and the vibes are magical, but it can also get super crowded. When people randomly stop to take a family photo or regroup, it can create an absolute traffic nightmare. For wheelchair users, it can be especially frustrating. So here’s a friendly reminder for us all, next time we’re at the parks, let’s step aside to take our photo. At the end of the day the magic will still be there!
Oh, The Entitlement
We all know how amazing Cast Members are, but at the end of the day, there’s only so much they can do. Now, about that, Jodi gave us a glimpse of some truly entitled behavior.
She shared, “People being rude to Cast Members. If you want to see spoiled, entitled adults, wait in a queue line that’s not air conditioned, it’s not the Cast Member’s fault that it’s hot outside or that you planned your vacation knowing it was summer in Florida. Imagine how they feel working long hours outside.”
I know it’s hot and the lines are long, but please, oh please, let’s all just be kind to Cast Members. They’re the ones making all the magic happen!
Starting Your Period at the Worst Possible Moment
Next up, Tiffany found herself in an all-too-relatable situation. She shared, “Starting my menses and having no supplies and no quarters to buy any.”
Can you imagine the panic of starting your period unexpectedly while out in public, at Disney World, no less? Tiffany didn’t know about the first aid stations that provide supplies, and nobody around her offered help when she stood at the bathroom machine with no quarters. And now, she carries supplies all the time, ready to help anyone in need. What a true Disney hero!
The Fountain Bath
Next, Heidi had a cousin who took “be our guest” to a whole new level. She shared, “My cousin from another country pretty much bathing in the decorative fountain at the entrance to animal kingdom. Same person.. stuffing his bag with biscuits from Round Up BBQ, and then spilling them on the floor in the Frozen theater and then proceeds to eat the crumbs off the floor. Omg, I could go on. Worst trip ever because of him.”
Oh no. No, no, no. Now, we can totally appreciate wanting to cool off in all this Florida heat, but the decorative fountains aren’t for bathing! And then eating the crumbs off the floor? Sometimes, you just gotta draw the line.
Silk Underwear on a Ride?
Let’s take a trip back to the 90s for this one when Staci had quite the memorable (and mildly embarrassing) family trip.
She shared, “Back in the 90’s when I was a kid we had a family trip to Disney. My toddler cousin, 3 or 4 at the time, had an obsession with silk women’s underwear. He would carry them around like most kids would a favorite stuffed animal or a security blanket. We went on universe of energy and my grandpa was in a wheelchair so we were in the very back of the ride. We got off and halfway to the next ride before my aunt realized my cousin had left his underwear on the backseat of the ride.”
Well, that’s one way to leave your mark on Disney World. Leaving behind a favorite stuffed animal is sad, but silk women’s underwear? That’s definitely a new one.
The Skyliner Stomach Emergency
Last up, Christie shared what can only be described as a truly panic-inducing moment on the Skyliner.
She shared, “Oh my gosh, having a sudden bad stomach after eating in Germany while on the skyliner heading back to the resort while traveling solo. Praying to the Disney gods the Skyliner would speed up but of course it stops. lol And hoping nothing bad happens while the poor unsuspecting family is sitting there with you while you’re breaking out in a cold sweat. By the grace of God, I made it back to the resort not something I EVERwant to repeat! 😂😂😂”
Can you imagine being stuck on the Skyliner with stomach issues? That’s absolutely terrifying, especially when you think that you can’t just hop off and run to the nearest restroom. In the end, Christie’s story had a happy ending, but it’s a reminder to be cautious about what you eat before hopping onto the Skyliner.
