So much NEW stuff is coming to Disney World that we are often having trouble keeping track of it all (see what we did there?).
Yes, yes, we’re talking about the Test Track re-theme in Disney World, which is happening RIGHT NOW while the ride is closed in EPCOT. The EPCOT transformation may be complete, but Disney isn’t done with the park yet: it’s also getting a Spaceship Earth-themed lounge (which won’t be IN Spaceship Earth, so we’re a little confused about that one). Okay, back to Test Track. Well, we’ve seen several permits come through for the ride and now a new one has turned up!
Okay, so let’s look at permits we’ve seen so far for the Test Track re-theme. The first permit was filed back in April for “general construction.” Another permit was filed in July for installing set elements (that might be the most exciting one). In September, another permit to install set elements was filed. Now, a new permit has been filed with Orange County for Pro Audio Video, Inc. to do “Electrical Work” at the ride.
The permit doesn’t offer any further information on if this electrical work is for the interior of the ride, the queue, or the exterior, but it’s one more sign that work is well underway to make Test Track into something new. At this year’s D23: The Ultimate Fan Experience, we learned that the queue will feature six distinct exhibits that will celebrate vehicles, as well as the people behind the future of vehicular transportation.
The new version of Test Track is expected to open sometime in 2025, so we’ll be keeping an eye out for more updates. Stay tuned to DFB for more.
