Something new has arrived at Pandora.
While often it’s the big changes at Disney Parks that garner the most attention. However, it’s the smaller, on the surface inconsequential changes that often define the Disney experience, even if guests don’t realize it. Recently we noticed one of these tiny changes at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
On our last trip to Satu’li Canteen, we noticed that the massive quick-service establishment has changed how they do drinks. Instead of paper cups, the restaurant is now using reusable plastic drinking vessels.
There are plastic glasses…
… and even plastic coffee mugs, which do a pretty good job of mimicking the feel of ceramics.
According to what we’ve heard from Cast Members, these plastic reusable cups are being tested at the Canteen, and if things go well they could spread to be used throughout the Animal Kingdom theme park.
Satu’li Canteen is the primary food location in Pandora: The World of Avatar, and is described by Disney as a place where guests can “discover healthful dishes and familiar flavors from another world—wholesome grains, fresh vegetables and hearty proteins.”
The canteen’s theme is that it’s “a peaceful dining facility adorned with Na’vi art and cultural items. Owned and operated by Alpha Centauri Expeditions (ACE), Satu’li Canteen supplies travelers all the comforts of home—courtesy of a unique, fast-casual menu that’s been crafted from Pandora’s natural abundance.”
New plastic drinking glasses and coffee mugs have debuted at Pandora’s Satu’li Canteen, and may roll out to the rest of Animal Kingdom if this test goes well. Stay tuned to DFB for further Disney dining updates.

I think it’s a great idea, and they look very stylish. I just hope that they are not all stolen by the time we are able to visit, like the forks at Galaxy’s Edge, and Disney has had to resort to plain ones.
