As of July 24th, 2024, Disney Genie and Genie+ is now Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Individual Lightning Lanes are now Lightning Lane Single Pass. These services are bringing big changes to the way we plan for (and budget) our days in the parks.
Lightning Lane Multi Pass is a PAID service that replaces what used to be known as FastPass+. The days of booking a return time for your favorite ride at no additional cost are behind us (RIP). Now, guests must purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass if they want to experience an expedited wait.
As we mentioned, Lightning Lane Multi Pass is an optional paid service* available through the My Disney Experience app which allows you to bypass standby lines and enter the Lightning Lane (previously known as the FastPass line) at select attractions in the parks by paying a base price for multiple attractions.
Additionally, with Lightning Lane Multi Pass guests can now:
- Make Lightning Lane plans before you’re in the parks, “for added confidence:”
- Choose experiences and times prior to purchasing, so you know exactly what you’re getting with your purchase;
- Book Lightning Lane passes for multiple vacation days, all at once, if you wish!
Lighting Lane Multi Pass Price
Here is a look at the pricing structure for Lightning Lane Multi Pass:
- Lightning Lane Multi Pass starts at $15 per day*, per ticket at Disney World;
- Price also varies BY PARK in Disney World**.
*Prices vary by date, and the Lightning Lane Multi Pass service is subject to availability.
**Lightning Lane Multi Pass prices can lower at one Disney World park than at another. For example, you might pay $27 at Magic Kingdom on a particular day, but Lightning Lane Multi Pass could be $18 at Animal Kingdom on that same day if there’s lower demand.
So far, the highest price we have seen in Disney World for Lightning Lane Multi Pass is $39 per day, per ticket. Guests can find the pricing for the day on the My Disney Experience app.
When to Purchase Lighting Lane Multi Pass
Those staying at a Disney World Resort hotel (and select other hotels*) can purchase and select their first 3 Lightning Lane Multi Passes up to seven (7) days in advance of their check-in day for their entire stay (up to 14 days). All other guests are able to purchase and select their first 3 Lightning Lane Multi Passes three (3) days in advance.
Here are the *Eligible Hotels for the 7-Day advance planning:
- Disney World Resort Hotels
- Shades of Green Resort
- Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels
You can purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass, a Lightning Lane Single Pass, or both depending on your preferences and needs. Also, they can both be purchased in one transaction.
So, what exactly is included with that Lightning Lane Multi Pass purchase? Let’s take a look at an UPDATED list of what you’ll be able to do once you pay for Lightning Lane Multi Pass.
Book Return Times for Most Rides and Attractions
The main draw of Lighting Lane Multi Pass is the ability to book return times for MOST rides and attractions in Disney World and experience an expedited wait for that ride.
With this new service, there is a tiered system for Lightning Lane Multi Pass ride selections. At Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, from your 3 advance selections, you may choose one experience from a higher-tiered group and two experiences (or all three) from a lower-tiered group. (There is only one tier at Disney’s Animal Kingdom).

Keep in mind that for all of the rides listed above, standby queues are available (as are Virtual Queues for select attractions, when in use) at no additional cost if you do not wish to purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass.
Now, once you redeem your first ride selection, you can make another one based on what is still available on the My Disney Experience app (just as you could do with the Genie+ system). Also, once you use your first Lightning Lane, you can book a ride from EITHER tier, even if the first one you used was a Tier 2 ride and not a tier 1 ride.
Guests who purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass are able to Park Hop and use the Lightning Lane service at various parks on the same day. Keep in mind that you can’t book Lightning Lanes across parks when making selections in advance. However, once you REDEEM one of your attraction selections on the day of your park visit, you can then choose another Multi Pass experience in the other parks if you have valid Park Hopper ticket.
In other words, you only need to scan in to your first Lightning Lane selection, and then you’ll be able to make a selection in another park right after that.
Now, you may have noticed a few popular rides were not included in the list above — that’s because Lightning Lane Multi Pass does not include EVERY ride and attraction in Disney World. These Individual Attraction Selections are NOT included and require a separate fee if you wish to book a return time for those ride’s Lightning Lanes.
The following rides are NOT included with Lightning Lane Multi Pass and require a separate fee:
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (Magic Kingdom)
- TRON Lightcycle / Run (Magic Kingdom)
- Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind (EPCOT)
- Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance (Disney’s Hollywood Studios)

Chances are we will buy LLs for our next trip. We visit about every other year now, as opposed to every year or sometimes twice in a year in the past. So we are already accustomed (somewhat) to longer, more expensive visits. With the introduction of the app, trips take more work now both ahead of time and during the visit. At least we can pay and plan ahead a little now, instead of only at 7 a.m. each day, and be on our phones a little less while we’re there. I am really disappointed that the ADR window and LL window are so far apart, but hopefully we will be able to make it work. There aren’t THAT many must-dos for us in any given park, and with the ability to plan ahead (albeit for a literal cost), knowing that we will be able to get on most of the rides we want, when we want, will be worth it. Especially since we know in advance to bake it into the costs for the trip.
